Marshmallowmilkshake Old-Timey Member Posted June 24, 2021 Posted June 24, 2021 Uniform ads are awful. The maker's marks are definitely falling into the ad category as they grow and have more prominent placement. Don't like them, either.
seawolf17 Old-Timey Member Posted June 24, 2021 Posted June 24, 2021 The good news is that because they're making money off this, they're lowering ticket prices and cutting commercial time.(Oh, wait.)
kcmets Old-Timey Member Posted June 24, 2021 Posted June 24, 2021 I don't mind a swoosh (although I haven't bought anything Nike in like the last 35 years) or a bitcoin symbol but that has to be the line in the sand or else it's gonna turn into a NASCAR freak show somewhere down the road. Umps should wear a patch showing how many egregiously blown calls and decisions they average per season."Who's behind the plate today?""Fishnehritz.""What's his patch?""83.""Oh boy, here we go again!"
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted June 24, 2021 Author Posted June 24, 2021 I'm not thinking that we're anywhere close, sadly, to a line in the sand.
A Boy Named Seo Old-Timey Member Posted June 24, 2021 Posted June 24, 2021 Lukas mentions it, and my first response (without knowing who the sponsor was) was that you want your umpires to appear to be the unbiased arbiters they're supposed to be. Even if the umpire's union isn't get a penny, advertising makes it looks like umps can be bought (the crypto angle is sadly hilarious).

Pitchers' uni numbers should reflect the # of dingers they've given up so far this year, batters the # of Ks, managers the number of ejections, etc.
