If MLB wanted to create an alternate broadcast for kids or gamblers that would be fine. The NFL did that in the playoffs with a separate broadcast on Nickelodeon and it was great. This is an exclusive telecast and it's not for anyone: Mets fans, both AZ fans, gamblers, kids, baseball lovers, no one will love this and no casual viewer will seek it out despite it being "free". It's just a money-grab by MLB (which also angers cable and mlb.tv subscribers as you're paying to watch your team and not getting anything in return today).
