bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted April 24, 2021 Posted April 24, 2021 (edited) It's Sunday afternoon and the rubber game of the 3-game series for the Mets against the scummiest pieces of scum in the National League, the Marjorie Taylor Greene's of baseball, the Washington Nationals. Taijuan Walker will try to be as good in the middle innings as he is in the early innings while the Mets hope that Patrick Corbin is as bad today as he was in his first two starts and not as good as he was in his 3d start. Details on batter v. pitcher are at the link. Conforto and Davis are likely salivating at the thought of facing Corbin. Maybe Villar will get the start at 2B to give McNeil a day to play golf, I mean rest. (Update: true!) Pete moves up, Lindor moves down, Villar starts at 2B and it's an AA meeting in CF.https://www.mlb.com/gameday/nationals-vs-mets/2021/04/25/634344#game_state=preview,lock_state=preview,game_tab=,game=634344https://www.mlb.com/gameday/nationals-vs-mets/2021/04/25/634344#game_state=preview,lock_state=preview,game_tab=,game=634344It will be raining in the 11368 in the morning but this says that it will be clearing around game time:https://weather.com/weather/hourbyhour/l/11368:4:UShttps://weather.com/weather/hourbyhour/l/11368:4:USHere are the game odds: Nationals +140, Mets -155HOME:1. G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted April 25, 2021 Posted April 25, 2021 About 4% chance of rain at 1:10 first pitch — bet that they play!
kcmets Old-Timey Member Posted April 25, 2021 Posted April 25, 2021 What's FanDuel pay on 4% chance, hopefully Gary Apple will break that down for us.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted April 25, 2021 Posted April 25, 2021 Well, that was a laborious first inning.

Edgy MD Site Manager Posted April 25, 2021 Posted April 25, 2021 Are the Mets ... sharp on defense ... today?

It should be 4-0 with Pete up and the bases loaded but Eddings is another horrible umpire.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted April 25, 2021 Posted April 25, 2021 Keith would call that too close to take. I'm not sure I'd agree.I do think, in a world of robo-umps, Brandon would reach at about a .600 rate.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted April 25, 2021 Posted April 25, 2021 Would have been nice to see that following a Brandon Nimmo walk.
bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted April 25, 2021 Author Posted April 25, 2021 I was happy to hear that Schwarber was going to be the regular LF for the WSHs, remembering his falling down in the NLCS. Sadly, it looks like he's improved a lot in the last 5 years.
Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted April 25, 2021 Posted April 25, 2021 Friggin Lindor is killing us
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted April 25, 2021 Posted April 25, 2021 He's also played a few very tentatively out there that a better LF maybe catches.Anyway, it looks like today is 'Make Outs on the Bases' day.

Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted April 25, 2021 Posted April 25, 2021 Almora caught the damn ball

Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted April 25, 2021 Posted April 25, 2021 And how many times do you see it, the guy who makes a great play to end the inning bats second in the bottom half?
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted April 25, 2021 Posted April 25, 2021 Somehow looking for more from Walker.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted April 25, 2021 Posted April 25, 2021 JDD doing that multiple shuffle-step thing again ... although his throws have been good.btw, Almora's glove gives me a hankering for some key lime pie
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted April 25, 2021 Posted April 25, 2021 Sliding practice, guys. Just go back to basics.
Lefty Specialist Old-Timey Member Posted April 25, 2021 Posted April 25, 2021 Can Lindor be sent to the alternate site for a week or two?
Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted April 25, 2021 Posted April 25, 2021 Way to win the series, Mets
bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted April 25, 2021 Author Posted April 25, 2021 (edited) 1) The Mets win2) Against WSH3) Only 2:424) They played well! The Mets clearly read the thread title and said, "you got it, bmfc1!"This would have been a bad loss, to lose a series while playing them w/o Soto and not facing Scherzer (while they had to see deGrom) and Strasburg. But it wasn't, it was a good win!Post-Game Notes: https://img.mlbstatic.com/mlb-images/image/upload/mlb/b7lj9xlkj6jc14apauna.pdfhttps://img.mlbstatic.com/mlb-images/image/upload/mlb/b7lj9xlkj6jc14apauna.pdf Edited April 25, 2021 by Guest
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted April 25, 2021 Posted April 25, 2021 And a sub-3:00 game certainly didn't seem to be in the offing after that 1st inning.
