G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted June 22, 2021 Author Posted June 22, 2021 Conforto activation at hand.
bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted June 22, 2021 Posted June 22, 2021 Not so fast, Conforto was not activated, even though the Acting GM said so. This happened: Maybe this is why:
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted June 22, 2021 Author Posted June 22, 2021 Conforto not activated tonight.Mazeika up, Drury to Syracuse.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted June 22, 2021 Posted June 22, 2021 They kind of had to call up Zeke. I imagine Nido's hand looks like a canned ham.

G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted June 23, 2021 Author Posted June 23, 2021 In addition to Conforto and Megill, we should be seeing good ol' Corey Oswalt. No corresponding moves yet made.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted June 23, 2021 Posted June 23, 2021 Sounds like it's gonna be brutal.I imagine that they'll clear up the three-catcher bidness, and either demote Zeke or IL Nido.Beyond that, Yennsy will probably get a pass to Syracuse. Move #3 would seem to come down to a demotion or DFA for Reid-Foley, Smith, or Eickhoff. I would assume that means SRF, as he has options.
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted June 23, 2021 Author Posted June 23, 2021 YD and SR-F went down; Nido got IL'd.
bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted June 25, 2021 Posted June 25, 2021 Travis Blankenhorn (you remember him, right?) was in SYR's lineup for G1 last night but was pinch-hit for when the game began. He's had an excellent week with a few HRs. I wonder if he is with the team now as a backup if Villar gets IL'd.
MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted June 25, 2021 Posted June 25, 2021 According to Amazing Avenue, Mason Williams has elected free agency rather than report to Syracuse.Later
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted June 25, 2021 Author Posted June 25, 2021 Sean Reid-Foley gets picked last (27th man for doubleheader).
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted June 25, 2021 Author Posted June 25, 2021 Villar to IL. Blankenhorn rejoins with chance to play in his first Mets home game.
bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted June 27, 2021 Posted June 27, 2021 Luis said that Nimmo is scheduled to return on Tuesday. If so, who departs? Almora is hitting .081 (I know, BA is dumb) but he's a righty and they have few right-handed hitters. McKinney is a lefty but he is hitting .225 with 4 HRs and is more potent off the bench.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted June 27, 2021 Posted June 27, 2021 Batting average ain't that dumb.Although, an .081 is dumber than most
bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted June 27, 2021 Posted June 27, 2021 Marcus Stroman is leaving the team to be with his family after the passing of his Grandmother but he'll be back for his start on Friday. Luis said that they might add a player under the Beareavment Leave rules.
MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted June 29, 2021 Posted June 29, 2021 SNY says the Mets have called up Thomas Szapucki and DFA'd Jerad Eickhoff.Later
bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted June 29, 2021 Posted June 29, 2021 Projections:Nimmo for AlmoraVillar for BlankenhornNido for MazDavis for Peraza (?).
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted June 29, 2021 Posted June 29, 2021 I'll worry about all this when it comes to it.Because, until I hear otherwise, Nimmo & Davis seem like they are perpetually two weeks away from being two weeks away.Which sets them apart from Carrasco & Syndergaard who are two months away from being two months away.
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted July 2, 2021 Author Posted July 2, 2021 Four here, four there.RHP Marcus Stroman has been reinstated from the Bereavement List RHP Jeurys Familia has been reinstated from the 10-Day IL. Catcher Tomas Nido has been reinstated from the 10-Day IL. OF Brandon Nimmo has been reinstated from the 10-Day IL. LHP David Peterson has been placed on the 10-Day IL, retroactive to July 1, with right side soreness. Catcher Patrick Mazeika has been optioned to Triple-A Syracuse. INF Travis Blankenhorn has been optioned to Triple-A Syracuse. RHP Thomas Szapucki has been optioned to Triple-A Syracuse.

bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted July 2, 2021 Posted July 2, 2021 Unless there is a Bereavement Leave time limit, why was Marcus activated today when he's not pitching until tomorrow? You could have kept Maz for another day as it's possible that you would need another batter and/or catcher today. It's unlikely but it's possible.
Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted July 2, 2021 Posted July 2, 2021 The bereavement list is a minimum of 3 and maximum of 7 games. So yes, it appears to have been a premature move to activate Stroman today.
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted July 2, 2021 Author Posted July 2, 2021 When Stroman was headed for the BL, Rojas discussed the timing in terms of Stroman's preparation for his next start, leading me to believe it must be considered beneficial to not have the next day's starting pitcher come in cold after several days away.
Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted July 2, 2021 Posted July 2, 2021 I admit that I don't know if there's a rule about what Stroman can do while on the bereavement list. If it's like the disabled list, one would think he could still be with the team, thrown in the bullpen, work with trainers, and so forth - but just not play in Friday's game.
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted July 2, 2021 Author Posted July 2, 2021 There's the possibility Stroman wanted to rejoin his teammates or resume a sense of routine (speaking from experience when I chose to cut my own “take all the time you need” short after a death in the family).
bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted July 2, 2021 Posted July 2, 2021 It didn't matter (except to the player that would have stayed on the team for an extra day in my imaginary scenario and then collected another day of major league salary).
