Edgy MD Site Manager Posted April 1, 2021 Posted April 1, 2021 Guess who started the new year sixth or seventh on the starting pitcher depth chart? That's me.Guess who is breaking camp as a member of the rotation? That's me, too.I'm David Peterson, lefthander, and I'm your 2017 Mets first round draft pick out of the University of Oregon. I came up last year and successfully anchored a spot in the rotation. Unfortunately, I just barely exceeded my Rookie of the Year eligibility, but I say that was time well spent, as my 6-2 record and my 3.44 ERA can attest.Yeah, I walked a few too many, but I kept the ball down and got it done anyhow. And just being in a rotation with deGrom, I expect to improve my control by osmosis. And starting off the season in the rotation is going to be a boon — A BOON, did you hear me? — to my short- and long-term prospects. I hope one of you city dwellers picked me for your dark horse, because after a long offseason of cutting wood and flying the flannel, I intend to chop my way through the National League East, lefty-style.How much chop and how much flop? This is the thread where you let me know. Until then, watch the Braves look foolish. I'll show you fools how to chop.
Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted April 3, 2021 Posted April 3, 2021 Fights to hold onto a rotation slot when Carrasco comes back and pitches well enough to consider it but instead gets slotted to the bullpen where he loses his confidence, starts drinking heavily, gains weight and spends half the year as a tomato can in Syracuse. 2022 comeback candidate.2-4, 4.60, 9 starts, 9 bullpen appearances(rooting for a better outcome)
