What I remember most about Sherry from this forum is that he came up some in the comments to a quiz I one ran about naming all the Mets players who went on to manage a MLB team. (Backman wasn't included, and I wouldn't include Beltran if I re-ran that quiz in the future).

That is a great card. They also remain, somehow, to this day, the last pair of brothers to form an MLB battery.

I guess the closest the Mets came would be Hank McGraw, who briefly made it as far as AAA Jacksonville by 1966 in the Mets organization, while Tug was still a starter with the Mets. He could have caught Tug down there. Or he could have caught Seaver.



Roberto Alomar never got a chance to pitch, let alone to Sandy. But maybe someday Chase d'Arnaud will get to throw a mopup inning to Travis.

I rooted for those 1959 Reds against the forces of evil. Followed them all year because there were rumors they would move to New York to replace the Brooklyn Dodgers.

And I didn't remember Jim Bailey. I just looked him up. He went 0-1 in three games.
