to be clear, there is no "stance" it's not a both sides thing. You either don't want black people to get murdered, or you do. We need to stop un-educating people that there are any other 'sides' to this.

no, it's literally the point. If I say "I want pretzels to exist" you either want pretzels to exist, or you don't. You don't have to get up on a pulpit for Pretzels, though you should, as they're delicious, but any other stance on the matter only serves to detract from the point.

If I wanted to build a pretzel shop, and all the shops around where I built it got put up with no debate, saying "but what about a taco shop?" and "maybe you should build it over there?" or "the hot dog shop over there deserves to get built too! (even though it's under construction)" "or actually some pretzels are burnt and actually not good" it all detracts from the point.

but you clearly are avoiding facing the core of the issue. The statement is to stop letting the police kill black people disproportionately and with no accountability, any "yeah but" is literally saying black lives matter, but not THAT much, and that's clearly a bad take.

You can't yeah but "stop murdering" it should be such a universally agreed upon statement. And it mostly is. The entire world agrees, except a slim minority of assholes, and so many of those are political leaders and professional blow-hards that it becomes controversial.

What is fucking wrong with you?

I ain't avoiding shit, you have no clue what I do all day so don't slander me.

It's black and white with Ceets. If you don't agree with him, he'll tell you what you actually believe. And it ain't gonna be pretty.

Please don't presume to have a nuanced thought for yourself. That's just a waste of mental energy. Ceets sees all. Ceets knows all. He knows you far better than you do. It's an incredible burden he bears and we're lucky to have him among us.

I dunno. KC's the one that turned this kneeling discussion into something personal.

I thought the pre-game ceremonies at Shea-Citi this afternoon were rather tasteful.

Zero scumbag stuff detected here. But some people see what they want/need to see.

Good lord, that's what set your Doctor Denton's on fire? hahaha...

#lgm #ygb #ymdyf

Oh. Excuse me. So who the hell were you talking about with your "some people" and "[z]ero scumbag stuff detected here"?

Not only are you fine with not a single Met kneeling but then you take it out on me for noticing that no Met kneeled.

You're so full of shit like all the time.

I was RIBBING YOU. It wasn't veiled or anything.

One day you'll realize I'm only like 1/10 the asshole you think I am.

Hasta entonces...

is it not black and white? I'm certainly willing to listen to your evidence and statistics that suggest SOME black people need to be killed by the police.

It's worth remembering that every single person killed by the police, black, white, whatever, are innocent. Every single once of them. That's codified in law. Even the very few where force is warranted for self-defense, innocent. Cops are literally _less_ codified to assess guilt than the person they are killing.

Go ahead, tell me how saying "don't kill people" is in anyway or at any time, not black and white.

More pretzel twisting and putting thoughts/statements to people here that haven't been made.

I don't get it, and I'm certainly not going entertain it the rest of the summer and down the election day stretch.

then don't chime in and let me and batmags talk about it. That's fine.

Especially if your comment is "I haven't decided" or whatever wishy washy thing you said.

I'm not putting any thoughts into anybody's head. This is the situation as it stands in this garbage country.

They wore two patches, stenciled a message behind the mound and held a black cloth that linked two teams. Just because they didn't make a statement in the way you want them to make a statement doesn't mean that they didn't make a statement. Nor does it mean they support racism or violence.

It's not a "garbage country."

It's always a wonder when someone posts their poo online but tells anybody responding to mind their own business.

I can whoop up a ceetar forum to chat only with the folks he likes. It's no trouble.

I don't, I have no issues with you. I just think you're being extremely obstinate, and I feel like i've been rather clear about my stance, if not, i apologize. They ARE killing people and I don't think there's any nuance to saying it. You call it out, and endless pointless debate about the 'right way' to protest or point it out or fix it or whatever is just detracting from the issues. But whatever, 45 was shamed (someone told him he'd be booed hard so he cried and quit) from throwing out the first pitch, so at least there's that.

I'm obstinate!?!

I don't think I've overly called anything out. I don't think I've endless(ly) or pointless(ly)

debated about the right way to protest. I was against harming potentially innocent people

by burning down a Wendy's. Your response was something like, "harmless people in a Wendy's?"

That was like six weeks AGO!!!

I have no affiliation with Trump or 45 nor any party so I have no idea why you threw that in.

*elbow bump* pull your mask fully over your nose, I can see nostril...

You have to admit that "I don't, I have no issues with you. I just think you're being extremely obstinate," is pretty fucking hilarious.

I mean, I don't want anyone to say that about me, but if they're going to, that's the way to do it.

crap like this is what prevents me from taking anything he says that isn't about baseball seriously.

Back to baseball for a moment if I may, a few highlights to recap the opening weekend of the return:

- each series finished 2-1 (or 1-2 depending on your POV) with the exception of LAD/SFG which finished 2-2 … meaning that for the first time since 1954, when the league was barely half the size of today,

not a single team got off to a 3-0 start.

- four Marlins tested positive on the eve of Sunday's game including Sunday's scheduled starter Jose Urena. The worst news for those guys is that now not only are they subject to quarantine but they have

to do so IN PHILADELPHIA!!!!

- Shohei Ohtani made his first start since early 2018 on Sunday (the Angels have designated him as their Sunday pitcher for the time being) but didn't retire a single batter: Single - Walk - Walk - Walk - Single - Single

and got hung with 5 earned on the day (infinite ERA for 2020 so far). At the plate he's 1-for-5 plus had a bad base-running mistake while serving as the designated extra-inning runner.

- Anyone remember Daniel Bard? He came up as a future-stud relief pitcher for the Sawx back in 2009, racked up two seasons of sub-1.00 WHIP in '10-'11 but then lost the plate in 2012 and was gone from

the majors after just one outing in 2013 with only brief minor league stints since (13 innings pitched in total including 2/3 of an inning w/4 earned as a Gulf Coast Met in 2017). Well he resurfaced with Colorado

this winter and got into a ML game for the first time in 7-1/2 years and got the win on Saturday with 1-1/3 innings of relief (0 Runs, 2 hits, 1 K)

- And finally Justin Verlander either is or is not out for the season after just one start with an elbow injury depending on who you ask. Verlander himself is, perhaps not surprisingly, in the 'Not' camp.

this is where being a high profile athlete sucks - if it were me i'd just hop in the car and drive home to quarantine there, because who wants to be in Philly?

Which brings up another point - Cuomo says anyone coming from certain states, including Florida, need to quarantine when they get here - how is that going to work for the Marlins/Rays or anyone who just played them? or are athletes again immune to rules?

oh, I'm sorry, are you bringing up a fucking Wendy's again when we're talking about cops murdering black people? The Wendy's where cops rolled up, harassed a drunk black man until he got aggressive, and then chased down the unarmed black man who was RUNNING AWAY (don't give me crap about a taser, it was discharged and they knew it, per the charges) and shot him?

I'm sorry, running after a drunk and unarmed black man isn't exactly what it'd look like if it was a damn deer in the woods?

Or breaking into someone's house, that isn't even the right house, for a crime that someone has already been arrested for, shooting a sleeping woman, who then was alive for 20 minutes while they ignored her and let her die, and then ARRESTING her boyfriend for daring to shoot at the intruders isn't hunting black people?

I admit I've never been hunting, but it must be pretty damn brutal if that doesn't qualify.

all, meanwhile, to bring it back to the damn fucking point, MLB puts on preformative gestures. OH THAT WAS NICE and then like 3 players actually kneel during the anthem, they get rid of the BLM on the mound real damn fast (gotta get that sponsorship money!) and we're rapidly getting back to ignoring it. Why are we even playing the national anthem at games within the nation, against each other, to an empty stadium? Oh right, performative patriotism.

I reiterate, what a garbage country. And Biden may slow our downslide, but is he going to fix any of this? no.

Posted

Oh, the fucking hypocrisy. The Yankees paint a BLM logo on their mound --likely against their will as that was an MLB thing-- but then invite Donald "KKK" Trump to throw out a ceremonial first pitch.

Again, I don't why you're doing all this ranting and raving towards me. Do you think I'm some

kind of closet clan member or something? I brought up the Wendy's thing to illustrate it's been

six weeks or so since I even talked about protests but you throw 'overly called out' and 'end-

less(ly) or pointless(ly)' debate about the right way to protest in my face like I'm the one carrying

on or something. It's delusional, at best. You're piling on an exponentailly inordinate amount of

crap on my shoulders - SLANDERING ME - that I have nothing to do with.
