A Boy Named Seo Old-Timey Member Posted December 20, 2019 Posted December 20, 2019 That Daily News headline is a real mouthful, but I love the picture.
Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted December 20, 2019 Posted December 20, 2019 FOLLY RANCHER is the best, come on fellas
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted December 20, 2019 Author Posted December 20, 2019 I'm afraid I'm not on Team FOLLY RANCHER. It's a great headline, but the cover isn't visually appealing. I much prefer MANE MAN.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted December 20, 2019 Posted December 20, 2019 Western embroidered shirts = back page gold.
Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted December 20, 2019 Posted December 20, 2019 It's meant to be hard to look at!If this is the end for FR, it should be in the running for the "Audience Choice Spirit of Tabloids Award" which makes a charitable donation in the name of the tab cover that best illustrates the absurdity of devoting entire pages to sports and athletes.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted December 20, 2019 Posted December 20, 2019 I heart the way his rear leg is hooked in front of the text while his front leg sits behind. It's Euclidically possible, but it sure strains my groin and hammies just to think about it.

The cover that's in the lead after the first coupl'a hours of the round usually wins the head-to-head. I don't recall too many derby come from behinds, if any. Not when a cover is down by three or four votes, anyways.

Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted December 20, 2019 Posted December 20, 2019 In that case it was clearly better than it's opponent, and I do think my impassioned defense--and the irl news that lifted the prescience of this cover--helped to swing the jury. During that process I also fell emotionally in love for this cover and prepared to die on its hill in the same way I died behind the YA GOTTA RELIEVE cover of a few years before
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted December 27, 2019 Author Posted December 27, 2019 http://leaptoad.com/mets/covers/images/2019/3_05.png>The defeat of FOLLY RANCHER marks the exit of the New York Post from this year's competition. Only once before has a publication failed to survive to the point where the field had narrowed to eight covers, and that was Newsday in our inaugural year of 2015.Also, in the photo above, note how the woman in the lower right is awed at the site of the gigantic spokesmodels.
bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted December 27, 2019 Posted December 27, 2019 She should wake her husband so he can also see the awe-inspiring spokesmodels.
