Edgy MD Site Manager Posted December 10, 2019 Posted December 10, 2019 We missed it when it happened two weeks ago, but before Flexie or Gaggie signed to play in Korea, 2019 outfielder Aaron Altherr did.Not without his moments, but ultimately failed to surpass Ron Gardenhire (although maybe Tobi Stoner) as the greatest-ever Met born in Germany.Ultimately got more time on the roster than other bigger reserve-outfielder names such as Carlos Gomez or Rajai Davis (though GoGo saw more playing time). And hey, Gregor Blanco and Travis Taijeron saw no time at all. Matt Kemp, too!https://thenypost.files.wordpress.com/2019/05/aaron-altherr-1.jpg?quality=90&strip=all>
Lefty Specialist Old-Timey Member Posted December 11, 2019 Posted December 11, 2019 Surprised you found a picture of him in action because he really did nothing at all. I mean really. Nothing. .082, or 5 hits in 61 AB's. If he's going to Korea, can I suggest the North?
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted December 11, 2019 Author Posted December 11, 2019 Whoah, hey, not cool. You're counting his performance with the Giants (0-for-1) and the Phillies (1-for-29) against his record, when in fact, these outputs helped the Mets.By comparison, his 4-for-31 (.129 / .200 / .258 // .458) run with the Mets was positively robust. His lone home run came with the Mets as a pinch-hitter (vertreter) in his very first appearance with the team.
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted December 11, 2019 Posted December 11, 2019 At some point down the stretch I had confidence he'd get a big hit, and, in fact, he hit the ball hard, albeit for an out. Maybe it just wasn't his BABIP year.

seawolf17 Old-Timey Member Posted December 11, 2019 Posted December 11, 2019 Saw him in Rochester late in the season, and he was way taller than I expected.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted December 11, 2019 Author Posted December 11, 2019 Yeah, he also had a heck of a vertical leap. I suspect he's a good basketballer, and I suspect that his athletic skills make him more attractive than his stats do.He was shit at cornering, though.https://twitter.com/SamanthaAltherr/status/1194101893414506497
Lefty Specialist Old-Timey Member Posted December 11, 2019 Posted December 11, 2019 Now I know how to spell "I Can't Hit" in Korean.https://pbs.twimg.com/media/EK9FK1nUUAAVyh5?format=jpg&name=small>
Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted December 11, 2019 Posted December 11, 2019 Will enjoy BABIPbok bowls.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted December 11, 2019 Author Posted December 11, 2019 Looks like Korean stadia have natural grass. The NC Dinos seem to at any rate.
