Lefty Specialist Old-Timey Member Posted September 3, 2019 Posted September 3, 2019 You just know this is going to be one of those nights where Jacob pitches magnificently and has nothing to show for it.
bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted September 3, 2019 Posted September 3, 2019 They have a good team with some of the best young players in the league but the attendance is near the bottom of the game:https://www.washingtonpost.com/sports/the-nationals-have-been-fun-for-months-now-but-you-wouldnt-know-it-by-looking-at-the-stands/2019/09/02/66ac9f02-cdab-11e9-8c1c-7c8ee785b855_story.htmlhttps://www.washingtonpost.com/sports/the-nationals-have-been-fun-for-months-now-but-you-wouldnt-know-it-by-looking-at-the-stands/2019/09/02/66ac9f02-cdab-11e9-8c1c-7c8ee785b855_story.htmlTheir fans are whining about the number of Mets fans who were there yesterday. Too bad.

bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted September 3, 2019 Posted September 3, 2019 Conforto has good numbers against Scherzer but not many do (Adrian Gonzalez does!):http://www.espn.com/mlb/player/batvspitch/_/id/28976/max-scherzerhttp://www.espn.com/mlb/player/batvspitch/_/id/28976/max-scherzerCano with only 3 hits but 2 bombs (including Opening Day).

bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted September 3, 2019 Posted September 3, 2019 (edited) deGrom and Scherzer duel but deGrom gives up a walk and then a HR to Rendon in the 7th, so it's 2-0 WSH going into the 9th (I debate leaving) but Scherzer is replaced (so I stay). With two outs (I again debate leaving but don't)... Rajai pinch-hits and walks, McNeil singles, Alonso hits a 3-run homerun (I go out of my mind). Diaz pitches a 1-2-3 bottom of the 9th and I ride the Metro home, smiling all the way. Edited September 3, 2019 by Guest

bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted September 3, 2019 Posted September 3, 2019 We'll see if that's fan-fic or prescient.
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted September 3, 2019 Posted September 3, 2019 Prescient and accounted for here like Sportsphone back in the day: fast and first.

Why are they playing a day game on a Tuesday?" I was happy with the result, but sad I had missed it. Then I looked at the MLB ap to see a video of the Alonso homer.....and saw a 7:05 start.
bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted September 3, 2019 Posted September 3, 2019 Sorry 41Forever. I'm psyched for the game even though trips to that hell-hole usually turn out badly for me.

Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted September 3, 2019 Posted September 3, 2019 Well that was certainly an unexpected series of (eight?) pitches!!
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted September 3, 2019 Posted September 3, 2019 Joe Panik, who is ALL about sticking it to ceetar, puts the Mets up 4-1 with a two-run homer.

Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted September 3, 2019 Posted September 3, 2019 There's an old(er) guy in the front row behind the plate who's having far too good a time with each playing of 'Baby Shark'

Brodie's done a decent job pulling guys off the scrap heap. Davis, Gomez, Hecherriva all had their moments. Adequate when we needed them, gone when we didn't.

batmagadanleadoff Old-Timey Member Posted September 3, 2019 Posted September 3, 2019 Panik, and now McNeil go yard. Maybe Nats Park really is a terrific HR park.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted September 3, 2019 Posted September 3, 2019 This hasn't been a classic deGrom game, but 95 pitches thru 7 innings is lower than normal on a per/inning basis.Let him at least start the 8th
Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted September 3, 2019 Posted September 3, 2019 that didn't go well
