Dear Typewriter,

With Noah Syndergaard farting his way down the stretch and across the finish line, it's easy to forget how impressively dominant he was when he was at his best. Do you have a card commemorating the stunning May 2 home game in which he pitched a 1-0 shutout and provided the lone run with a solo homer?

Also, if you were a Batman producer, which actor would be your first call when trying to cast Two-Face?

Peace and good things,

Ringo is so freakin stylish!

Ringo, Ringo Ringo. You know what they say about 1966, dontch'a? That 1966 was the year of the three B's: Batman, the Beatles and James Bond. We love us some Ringo here at Typewriter Chewing Gum, makers of the finest Batman Mets cards in the whole wide world, including a 2019 highlhights card featuring Noah Syndergaard's domination of the Cincinnati Reds when he shut them out and homered, to boot, to acocount for the only run in a 1-0 Mets win. But if we were casting the Batman TV show, we would've set our sights on the on the brink of superstardom Warren Beatty. With Beatty in the role, the contrast between Two-Faces' two half-faces -- the beauty and the horror--would have been stunning.

We made the Syndergaard highlight card back in the dead of Summer. Most of the work was done during that scorching heat wave on what was the hottest day of the year one weekend, when outside, it felt like about 110 degrees and that you were literally inside of a broiler, if you hadda be outside. This card ended up taking about 10 or 15 hours to make, its production stretching out over a whole week. If we knew ahead of time what we were getting into with this furshlugginer card, I don't know if we would've bothered. But we think its a beaut, so we're glad for that.

The Golden Age of The Simpsons - Bill Clinton's first term. That's just awesome.

Did Louie the Lilac empty his Tommy gun into J.D. Davis' guts?

Louie was curious in that he and Shame were the only miscreants Batman pursued who actually shot guns at him.

My first guess was one of those silhouettes on the '73 Topps cards,

but going to the '70's binder that doesn't appear to be correct.

He's one of those silhouetted generic baseball action figures that I include in all of the base set Batman cards. He can be anybody you want him to be. Willie McCovey. Tim Harkness. Ginger Baker. Anybody. Here's that whole scene:

But the action figures on Seaver's Batman69 insert card aren't generic.

I decided it was Amed Rosario getting himself caught in a rundown between first and second to let a run score.

He stands out more there, I think because both Bats and Robin are guiding the observer's eye towards him.

How's this? I put the whole baseball action scene in there. I think the problem was that without the charging base runner for context, the first baseman looks more like a surfer.

That Penguin rally invokes Barry Goldwater's famous quote from his nomination speech: “I would remind you that extremism in the defense of liberty is no vice! And let me remind you also that moderation in the pursuit of justice is no virtue!”

Penguin's version is hardly decipherable as Burgess Meredith is trying to sing at a high tempo while clamping his teeth shut on his cigarette holder, but the Interwebs tells me it's: “Extremism in defense of vice! Moderation in pursuit of virtue!” which is pretty good writing despite the fact that almost nobody could understand it the way it was rendered.

A take on this motto was also used as a rallying cry for early Mets fans.

Kick off the New Year with this (Latin American market only -- test issue)

Holy Space-Time conundrum! We packed Batman into the DeLorean time machine and set the dials for Washington D.C, Summer of '69. Batman's mission was to snap up some pics of all-star and emerging Mets batting stud Cleon Jones at RFK stadium for our Batman69 All-Star cards. (available only in Latin America. All-star cards. Test Market. Contracts. Lawyers.) What we forgot was that this Batman, the Adam West version, is strictly a 1966 guy. So he didn't take with him, one of those modern digital cameras with unlimited memory that every nine year old has today so long as they have a smartphone, which they do, which we figured Batman would have in his vaunted utility belt. No. Instead he took a 1966 vintage Minolta camera with, get this, a spent roll of film and enough leftover film for just one snapshot. He couldn't take a modern camera. Shark repellent and anti-radioactive spray he took with him. But not a freakin' modern camera. So Batman gets there, and he's got one shot to get a good shot of ol' Cleon. But wouldn't youse know it -- Cleon wasn't cooperating. Cleon gave us his back, the ol' cold shoulder. Wouldn't give Batman the time of day. Maybe Cleon's a Superman guy. Who knows? Well, Batman did the best he could. Then he came back and went out looking for one of those Kodak kiosks where they can develop your film in 24 hours. Youse don't know what we'se went through with this card.

We finally got Cleon to smile for the camera.

Typewriter Chewing Gum celebrates the 1969 All-Star Game's Mets connected hometown hero with this mash-up of Latin-American market All-Star cards, Batman69 cards and the Special Guest Villain line of cards. And check out our guest villain's 4.000 slugging percentage and 5.000 OPS for his all-star effort. That's a good night's work.

I've been noticing this for several months now -- the cards I post here are a teeny bit blurrier than they appear on my computer. It's been driving me nuts and I have no idea why this is happening.

Typewriter Chewing Gum is pleased to announce a new and exciting subset to our line of Batman Mets cards -- You Look Familiar! This subset is further subdivided into two other subsets (subsets within subsets) -- Space and Clarksvllle. So without further ado, let's break out the first You Look Familiar! card, Space variation. Also, Bud Harrelson gets a face-lift and a video accompaniment.

It's all happening on Fonebone Friday.

Dear Typewriter Card Co.,

I am a Batman Card collector but have been disappointed in the lack of "league leader" cards which we called "rooks," Team cards and Checklist cards. Will these be produced?

Thank you.

Joe Fonebone

You mean like this baby that combines our league leaders subset with the Batman69 line? More of these to come, including 2019 league leaders.

And coming soon, Tommy Davis to be featured on a Batman Mets card. Wait, you must mean J.D. Davis, not Tommy Davis, right?

Nope, we mean Tommy Davis.

Not Rajai Davis?

Tommy, not Rajai.

Well how could this be, you wonder? Tommy's long retired, so he wouldn't be on a 2019 base card. He was on the Seattle Pilots in 1969, and was not a member of the Amazin' Miracle Mets. That rules out a Batman69 card. So how would Tommy Davis be featured on a 2019 Batman Mets card?

You'll have to stay tuned in here. It's all part of our exciting new subset.

We love subsets.
