Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted June 18, 2019 Posted June 18, 2019 I picked up the paper this morningAnd read all the daily bluesThe world is one big tragedy I wonder what I can doAbout all the pain and injusticeAbout all of the sorrowWe're living in a danger zoneThe world could end tomorrowBut I'm not gonna let it bother me tonightThe Atlanta Rhythm Section was what their name indicated they were, a studio band based in Atlanta that among other things backed Roy Orbison. They were Southern but not Southern Rock per se, nice mellow rockin groove with their best stuff. They are one of those workaday groups that put out 1 album a year for 10 straight years, 1972-1981. Consider this a prelude to their forthcoming Desert Island Mix Tape.deGrom is pitching, I think
kcmets Old-Timey Member Posted June 18, 2019 Posted June 18, 2019 NYM (34‑38) Jacob deGrom (RHP, 3-6, 3.38)ATL (43‑30) Julio Teheran (RHP, 5-4, 2.92)
bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted June 18, 2019 Posted June 18, 2019 Someone on Twitter, perhaps it was Mike Puma, said that if they lose this game they can start selling for next season.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted June 18, 2019 Posted June 18, 2019 I'd start by trading Brodie for Chaim Bloom.
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted June 18, 2019 Posted June 18, 2019 The usual folks are talking about sellingLets win one game at a timeTeheran has been a Met hit denier
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted June 18, 2019 Posted June 18, 2019 Jeff McNeil - LFPete Alonso – 1BRobinson Canó – 2BMichael Conforto – RFTodd Frazier – 3BAmed Rosario – SSCarlos Gomez – CFTomás Nido – CJacob deGrom – RHP
Vic Sage Old-Timey Member Posted June 18, 2019 Posted June 18, 2019 deGrom is the best bat in the 2nd half of that lineup

Edgy MD Site Manager Posted June 18, 2019 Posted June 18, 2019 Situational hitting from Alonso is a heckuva thing to see.
Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted June 18, 2019 Author Posted June 18, 2019 Mets prepping a little Champagne Jam tonight. 3 XBHs, 3 walks in 2+ innings so dar, Teheran working hard at 43 pitches
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted June 18, 2019 Posted June 18, 2019 Three doubles in an inning is also a heckuva thing to see.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted June 18, 2019 Posted June 18, 2019 I was on the verge of borderline depression following the long(-ish) fly out by Acuna leading off the 1st then the Dansby Swanson double because, with Freddie & Donaldson coming up, I had visions of this game falling apart almost before it started. Fortunately, that descent into madness was forestalled.
Guest 41Forever Guests Posted June 18, 2019 Posted June 18, 2019 Darryl's record might fall this road trip!
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted June 18, 2019 Posted June 18, 2019 Wouldn't it be something if Pete gets 50?Mets in a romp. I'm delirious
whippoorwill Old-Timey Member Posted June 18, 2019 Posted June 18, 2019 Hold off til the bullpen gets their crack at it
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted June 18, 2019 Posted June 18, 2019 Alonso robbed of what would have been his third double/4th XBH of the game.Settles for a single instead.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted June 18, 2019 Posted June 18, 2019 Needed it for the cycle right? Not counting chickens here, but two of things I like about this:Disabuses the Braves of the idea that Teheran is an ace again.Disabuses the world of the idea that deGrom isn't.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted June 18, 2019 Posted June 18, 2019 Freeman swinging 3-0 down 8 to 0.Stupidity just won't go away.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted June 18, 2019 Posted June 18, 2019 Oddest strategy of the day?- Mets pulling off a double steal with 2 out/2-strikes and the pitcher up- Freddie swinging 3-0 while leading off an inning (7th) down by eight
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted June 18, 2019 Posted June 18, 2019 At least the Mets pulled it off. And hey, if the pitcher isn't looking, he isn't looking. But yeah.
Guest 41Forever Guests Posted June 18, 2019 Posted June 18, 2019 Jake is at 89 pitches. If he gets through the eighth reasonably easily, maybe he'll be allowed to go for the complete game.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted June 18, 2019 Posted June 18, 2019 WE WANT BLE-VINS!!!Do you think these chumps are really going to take deGrom out?
Guest 41Forever Guests Posted June 18, 2019 Posted June 18, 2019 Yeah, I think Conforto got all of that one!
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted June 18, 2019 Posted June 18, 2019 McCann is a classick red-ass catcher, isn't he?When he isn't pissed about something in particular he always seems to be looking for something to get pissed about.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted June 18, 2019 Posted June 18, 2019 Hilarious. He gets out of the eighth, and walks off the field as his fielders all offer him daps and he ignores them all.

Consider this a prelude to their forthcoming Desert Island Mix Tape.ARS was one of those groups that got thoroughly squeezed out when radio stations started tightening their playlists. For a while there they were versatile enough to fit into several different formats but, because they weren't definitively representative of any one specific genre, they wound up getting dropped from all of them when stations chose to "focus" on their core sound. Not that they were ever superstars to begin with, but suddenly it was like they disappeared overnight.http://gloriousnoise.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/05/IMG_1886.jpg>I remember this image on more than few dorm walls Edited June 18, 2019 by Guest
