G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted April 28, 2019 Posted April 28, 2019 Bit of a shocker. Losses cut. Nido up.
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted April 28, 2019 Posted April 28, 2019 Wow. I think that throw into CF last night kinda sealed it.Does he throw waivers, minors or such?
RealityChuck Old-Timey Member Posted April 28, 2019 Posted April 28, 2019 He has no options, so he has to pass through waivers.
kcmets Old-Timey Member Posted April 28, 2019 Posted April 28, 2019 d'power of d'IGT (actually kinda surprised)

Edgy MD Site Manager Posted April 28, 2019 Posted April 28, 2019 I tend to think if he held on to second on that attempt for a double, he'd still be a major-leaguer.
kcmets Old-Timey Member Posted April 28, 2019 Posted April 28, 2019 It's pretty Un-Mets to eat a salary like that in late April. I wouldn't besurprised if some juicy sub plot (fact or fiction) comes out in the next few days.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted April 28, 2019 Posted April 28, 2019 Well, there's every chance he goes unclaimed and he ends up vacationing in Syracuse.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted April 28, 2019 Posted April 28, 2019 Maybe we can un-trade Plawecki

Edgy MD Site Manager Posted April 28, 2019 Posted April 28, 2019 Well, if he got a d'Fa instead of an outright release, that doesn't point in that direction.
RealityChuck Old-Timey Member Posted April 28, 2019 Posted April 28, 2019 The sensible thing is to let him try to get it together in Syracuse. It's certainly possible he needs more time to recover from the injury. If he's released, someone might pick him up for league minimum.

nymr83 Old-Timey Member Posted April 28, 2019 Posted April 28, 2019 You are already paying the guy, no harm in keeping him in the minors if you can. Catcher free agency is a barren wasteland if you suffer a few injuries...
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted April 29, 2019 Posted April 29, 2019 At 3.5 million he will go to Syracuse
Fman99 Old-Timey Member Posted April 29, 2019 Posted April 29, 2019 He had a brutal game Saturday and is off to a rocky start. I don't think Nido will ever be much of a hitter, yesterday being the rare exception, but if he can be a solid guy with the mitt and spell Ramos once a week, I suppose he's just another MLB backup catcher. I'd prefer Mesoraco as the bench guy, I feel like he could at least give you the rare pop, not that he wants to participate.
