Sounds like a Seaver statue coming to Citi

Multiple reports that the Mets will unveil a Seaver statue this summer, and that it's been in the works for a while. Not a reaction to the devastating news this week. Might be the "something special" Jeff was referring to in his statement.

Oh, I'm sure the Mets'll fuck this up the same way the Mets fuck up everything else. They'll probably commission the same people who make the bobbleheads to make tbe Seaver statue, all to save twenty five dollars and when it's all done, we'll have a Seaver statue that looks more like Don Knotts than like Tom Seaver.

I think the Mets will find out where that original Lucy statue is warehoused, buy it for $100, put a Mets cap on the head and a 41 on the back and say that it's Tom Seaver.

I say that as long as the Seaver monument doesn't have a 'Gold's Mustard' or some other such nonsense on its base, it'll wind up being both a relief and a surprise.
