LWFS Old-Timey Member Posted January 17, 2019 Posted January 17, 2019 I'm a bit irked at the price. A lot of knowledgeable folks had him at 24 or so for TWO years.I think I'd have rather had him than good ol' Hyoo-rees, frankly.

cal sharpie Old-Timey Member Posted January 18, 2019 Posted January 18, 2019 When I was coaching the erstwhile poster Lenny Harris' baseball team, Ottavino's dad put on a clinic for coaching kids. At the time Adam was a hot-shot college pitcher who was drafted by the Rays (he didn't sign with them but signed the next year with the Cardinals). Anyway, the older Ottavino's clinic did teach me a lot but when he spoke about pitching it was always about Yankee pitchers, how Roger Clemens legs were the keys to his success (later we learned differently) and how Mussina's windup made all the difference. So, this offseason I always thought he'd end up on the Yankees. Still see the elder Ottavino around the neighborhood.
