"He throws hard" is a very enticing description for a minor league reliever your team has just acquired in a midseason salary dump. Hence, Bobby Wahl enticed. I was surprised his ERA in seven appearances climbed above 10. I remember him being promising. Or remember Mickey Callaway thinking he was promising enough to hand him the ball late in games for a rookie. Callaway was different from Collins in terms of trusting less accomplished less relievers, so maybe it just seemed he had earned his way into the late innings. More likely there was nothing to lose, so why not give a hard-throwing rookie a chance?

Seven strikeouts and two home runs allowed in five-and-a-third. There was promise. And progress to be made. Maybe in Milwaukee.

Yeah I'm not happy he's leaving either and would have guessed him to be promising, despite whatever happened last year. I don;t really have much memory of his Metness, I'd switched off the Metbrain by then

It was a small sample size that got punctuated by a hamstring pull fielding a grounder. I still had hopes for him.
