I do hope that this remains a non-NYM trading deadline thread and that, should they decide to deal off major parts to the current team, that those moves would be worthy of their own threads rather
than be lumped into some all-purpose jumble.

Having gotten that off my chest, the Jays on said to be on the verge of finding a new employer for RHP JA Happ although the specifics on his new address have yet to be revealed.
The Yanx, the Cubs, and the Brewers are said to be hot on the trail of his tail.

Yes, non-Mets. I'll edit the title to make it clear.

Looks like the Brewers just got 34-year old closer Joakim Soria from the White Sox. In exchange, the ChiSox get the Brewers #13 prospect, 22-year old lefty Kodi Medeiros, who has pitched to a 3.14 ERA and 9.3 K/9 this year at AA. MLBTR sez he is "one piece" in the deal, so the White Sox farm might be getting even deeper. Um, nice. haul.

Looks like Happ to the Yankees is done for Brandon Drury + other stuff.

Outfielder Billy McKinney, sez the internet. So basically eight or ten JA Happ starts in exchange for spare parts.

Does that count as spare parts? Hard to tell because NY media always talks up the Yankees garbage. I feel like they were all about the Drury. McKinney is a 23 year old outfielder, just getting to the majors, maybe useful? Also didn't Drury just get hit in the hand? isn't this pending physicals?

Anyway, I don't think Happ is really much of anything to be excited about.

Agree. Fills a need for the MFYs, I guess, and two more or less MLB-ready minor leaguers, even if they're utility guys at best right now, are better than nothing.

Good trade for both. Drury had a couple nice years back-to-back, versatile infielder with doubles pop, so maybe more HRs in that stupid baby park. Plus he's under control for a few years. I'd def take that dude on my team. Other homie, who knows.

And Happ has sneakily been very good 3 of the last 4 years and instantly upgrades that stinky turd that is the Yanks rotation.

I didn't realize that Hamels is already 34 y/o (35 in Dec).
The Rangers are including some money in the trade meaning that three teams are contributing to his paycheck this season as the Phils are also paying part of the freight as per that agreement
when they traded him three years ago.
Has a vesting option for 2019 although it doesn't look like he'll pitch enough 2017-18 innings to make it automatically kick in.

After reportedly finishing second in the Manny Machado sweepstakes and then at least inquiring about Asdrubal Cabrera, the Brewers land Mike Moustakas in an effort to beef up their infield's offense.
Going to KC are a couple of guys I know nothing about.

Brad Brach goes from the Orioles to the Braves in exchange for $250k in slot money. Given that Brach has not been good at all this year (4.85 WHIP, 1.77 ERA), I would try to go that route with guys like Bautista and Mesoraco (maybe even Blevins?) who probably wouldn't land us a prospect worth having. I'm not sure I'd have gone that route with Familia though.

Well, to be fair, with Familia the exchange was for two bodies PLUS slot money, not just slot money alone.

The Yanx also made a slot money deal this weekend, sending LHR Chasen Shreve along with a minor league righty to the Cardinals for 1B/DH Luke Voit and $1.5 mil for int'l cap space.
I guess the deal for Zack Britton made Shreve expendable although he was probably as good as Britton this year and wasn't even arb-eligible until this winter.
Voit has only 125 ML ABs to his name despite already being 27 y/o. He looks to be more or less a AAAA player and will likely be the RH platoon for Greg Bird over the next two months.
That said, he'll likely hit 18 HRs in limited duty over the next two weeks alone.

Please tell me you've got those two figures backwards.

The Yankees traded a prospect for $1.5M in bonus money. He's a lefty bullpen arm who boasted a sub-1.00 ERA in AA, but before this season he wasn't even in the top 30.

It would be an extremely remarkable (and somewhat dubious) accomplishment if I didn't.

I don't feel like doing the math,but I'm pretty sure that's impossible!

I mean, I guess it's not impossible, you could load the bases, have the next two guys score on just completely dumb errors like a catcher throwing to third while the guy runs home, and then walk 2 more. But still, virtually impossible.

Yanx continue to deal relievers and continue to horde int'l cap money as they trade Adam Warren to Seattle.
No bodies in return, just future bonus money points.

Suzyn is a big Adam Warren fan. She's gonna be super sad.

Oh, and the Rays (not the Cardinals, the RAYS) got $500k in slot money.

I read somewhere that Cards have blown their load already, Intl bonus wise, so it makes no sense for them to try and play anymore.

Being able to trade this money is about as bad as having it in the first place.

Just to update the big board:
- Lance Lynn is a Yank
- Cameron Maybin adds just a few letters to his employer as he moves from the Marlins to the Mariners
- the Marlins also deal side-arming reliever Brad Ziegler to the DBacks
- catcher Wilson Ramos goes to the Phils. There was talk of the Nats trying to re-acquire him
- OF Leonys Martin from Texas to Cleveland
