Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted June 8, 2018 Author Posted June 8, 2018 1966 eliminates 1974 by a vote of 8 to 4. (Lower than normal participation for this one.) This completes our Final Four. Our four surviving covers (1966, 1967, 1968, and 1970) were all issued over a span of five years. Three of the four covers feature the artwork of Willard Mullin.Voting for our fifth round, the semi-finals, will start on Monday. We'll see 1968 vs 1970, and 1966 vs 1967.ADVANCING TO ROUND FIVE:ELIMINATED:
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted June 8, 2018 Posted June 8, 2018 Somewhere inside Shea Stadium, March of 1971..."You sure about the composition on this picture of Grote making the tag for the cover?""Doesn't matter.""Whaddaya mean it doesn't matter?""This cover isn't as good as anything that came before.""I don't know, it's pretty good.""It'll never be as good, not this year, not any year.""Why are you saying that? We were kicking around some good ideas last week that we can still use. The Four Mets Who Form a Puzzle is an evergreen. Every Met Who Was Ever An All-Star, if we get a couple more who qualify, is gonna sparkle. Oh, and when we win a pennant, I have a helluva concept!""Doesn't matter. We've peaked.""How do you know?""I just know.""So why am I applying Fun-Tak to all these baseballs?"

Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted June 25, 2018 Author Posted June 25, 2018 Our winning cover, by a vote of 11 to 3. 1967 defeats 1968.I'll post the image of the final bracket when I get a chance. Unfortunately, there's no ceremonial announcement in Stockholm. There's a strike at the home office and Maja hasn't been seen in weeks.
MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted June 25, 2018 Posted June 25, 2018 She's right here, and says "Hi!".She'll give you a call to let you know when she'll be available for the ceremony.Later
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted September 27, 2018 Author Posted September 27, 2018 I know that this is a few months late, but it took a while to schedule the ceremony for the winning cover. (There was, as you're surely aware, a long-running shower-curtain-workers strike in Sweden that was recently resolved.)The Yearbook Cover Derby champion is Willard Mullin's 1967 cover. The winning cover will appear on Maja's shower curtain for the next year! The ceremony was held in Maja's bathroom, and Steve Gelbs of SNY was on hand to join in the fun! Thanks to everyone who participated, and again, we do apologize for the delay.

Guest d'Kong76 Guests Posted September 27, 2018 Posted September 27, 2018 I'm dying here lol, I read about that shower-curtain workers strikeburied in that failing paper with all the news that's fit to print.Looking forward to TCD IV!
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted September 27, 2018 Posted September 27, 2018 This is an important year for the TCD. Fourth installments of epic enterprises don't always meet the standards of their predecessors.Hopefully it will be better than Jaws IV (titled Jaws: The Revenge)The movie features Mario Van Peebles.BG, please tell us TCD IV will not feature Mario Van Peebles.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted September 27, 2018 Author Posted September 27, 2018 I can't promise that, because I hear he's in the running to be the next Mets GM.
