metirish Old-Timey Member Posted March 9, 2018 Posted March 9, 2018 It's an OK article, seeing it all over the internet like it's the best thing ever written , Ichiro is a bit odd and likes routine
Guest cooby Guests Posted March 9, 2018 Posted March 9, 2018 Actually until he started pummeling baseballs toward my head without looking (see previous post) I had no opinion of him at all. I guess I don't love him or hate him
Fman99 Old-Timey Member Posted March 10, 2018 Author Posted March 10, 2018 Fuck Esther Williams! (I would. I'd even let Larry Gatlin take video of it).
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted March 10, 2018 Posted March 10, 2018 I like Ichiro. He's like Worf to me, in that his society is built around honor, but almost everyone is a real phony about it, and use honor as a symbolic commodity in their power trip. But he's the the guy who embarrasses everybody around him who might be faking it, because he takes it so dead serious.
Guest d'Kong76 Guests Posted March 10, 2018 Posted March 10, 2018 And in closing, ladies and gentlemen of Cooperstown and around the world, let me say one last time; "Fukushū wa saikō no samui ryōridesu." Thank you.(Sorry, google doesn't have Klingon translation yet. Yet.)

nymr83 Old-Timey Member Posted May 7, 2018 Posted May 7, 2018 wow NEVER homered to the opposite field in 3000 hits
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted May 7, 2018 Posted May 7, 2018 Looks like he had one to left center in July 2002 that was either an inside-the-parker or occurred in a park with a relatively short power alley.OE: Looks like June 29 against the Rockies off of Mike Hampton at Safeco.
Guest Rockin' Doc Guests Posted May 8, 2018 Posted May 8, 2018 I wish more hitters used the entire field like Ichiro did during his career. It amazes me the preponderance hitters in baseball that keep making outs against dramatic defensive shifts rather than taking an almost sure hit by going to the opposite field (or simply bunting). If hitters would simply take what the defense is giving (conceding) to them a few times, teams would eventually have to abandon the shift defenses.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted June 22, 2018 Posted June 22, 2018 Ichiro pulled a Valentine, sneaking into the dougout in-game disguised as a trainer or something.
MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted June 23, 2018 Posted June 23, 2018 Don't know if it is worthy of its own thread, and the hadn't been a TWiB thread recently., so -last week, Adrian Beltre broke Ichiro's record of most MLB hits by a foreign-born player. And there is no doubt more than a few of his hits became home runs to left-center field.LAter
