The Mets don’t have a good record of letting middle infielders go to the Nats.

Nope. He will haunt us. No doubt in my mind.

Sheesh, you fatalists. Come on, geese!

Carlos Baerga, 2005 National, didn't haunt us.

Alex Cora, 2011 National, didn't haunt us.

Anderson Hernandez, 2008–2009 National, didn't haunt us. And he eventually came back to the Mets and didn't haunt the Nats, either.

Yeah, there's Murphy. And that's real. But a subset of one among four ain't much of a track record.

While I'm not upset about his departure, even to the MFNs (he'll appear now and again as did Matt den Dekker), it would have been nice to get a body in return, as was the case with Smoker, rather than a few bucks which likely goes to the Madoff fund.

I still think he can be a pretty good player. Capable of playing SS and can handle the bat a bit.

Victim of the roster crunch. I had hoped that maybe Frazier's physical wouldn't get scheduled until this week.

When I referenced Matt den Dekker in this thread, I didn't anticipate this:

I think, unlike "Cash," the value of "Cash Considerations" is not necessarily fixed, but based on circumstances as agreed to. Perhaps you get more if the guy makes the MLB roster or less if he is released before the end of spring.

Here's a legalish definition.

Consideration is a concept of legal value in contract law. It is a promised action, or omission of action, that the promisee did not already have a pre-existing duty to abide by. It can take the form of money, physical objects, services, or a forbearance of action. Both parties to a contract must pass consideration to the other party for there to be a valid contract.

Maybe it's all tied up in the Syracuse purchase. We'll give you Reynolds and you let us sell hats at NBT Bank Stadium.

I feel like this are all "do me a solid?" things. Like, the next time the Nats have to release a guy and the Mets want him they'll work something out.
