Guest Mets Willets Point Guests Posted January 29, 2018 Posted January 29, 2018 Wow! What caused the Mets to drop so significantly from4 in 2015? It's not like they've made a lot of TiTTs trades in the past few years.

nymr83 Old-Timey Member Posted January 29, 2018 Posted January 29, 2018 Promotions were a big culprit. It also seems like there have been a lot of injuries, particularly pitchers.

There's a reasonable shot that we'll jump up significantly from 27 next year as guys move up.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted January 29, 2018 Posted January 29, 2018 There was also the trade of Michael Fulmer, and the lost draft pick for signing Cuddyer (and maybe one or two others?)Farm systems go up and down, sometimes very quickly, and the Mets are obviously at a low right now. It may be very different in a year or two.
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted January 29, 2018 Posted January 29, 2018 Wasting our 2015 first-rounder on Michael Cuddyer certainly didn't help.
nymr83 Old-Timey Member Posted January 29, 2018 Posted January 29, 2018 The Cuddyer pick was a big loss.Fullmer would be in the majors now anyway (or the disabled list, given Mets luck) so his presence in the organization wouldnt help the rankings.

Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted January 29, 2018 Posted January 29, 2018 At this rate, we'll be at Number 1 before bed time!
Valadius Old-Timey Member Posted January 29, 2018 Posted January 29, 2018 Giving up a bunch of assets for minor league relief pitchers as opposed to more useful talent sure didn't help.

Sandy got borderline-crap for established major leaguers because the Wilpons needed the other team to take on salary. If the Wilpons ran the team (or were able to run the team) like a team in New York with their own cable channel and a new ballpark they could have focused on the player rather than the trade being a fancy salary dump.
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted January 29, 2018 Posted January 29, 2018 Pitcher Justin Dunn, a 2016 First Round pick is seen regressing down to A ball this season.
