1. The Mets signed Gabriel Rodriguez, who is 26 years old and has a career 6.96 ERA in four (affiliated) minor league seasons. But he must have impressed based on his performance in the Puerto Rican Winter League (1.50 ERA, 39 K in 24 IP).
2. You know, for the the first two I did, I had IGT, but I second guessed THAT because it didn't look right. Welp, my bad.
3. In the game. As in we're into the game. Honestly I couldn't remember what we usually call them so I thought that was close enough.
4. 13 walks! Didn't even see that.
5. Cardinals will be starting Richard Fitts; the Mets starter is as yet unknown. Will Mike Tauchman wallop another dinger? Will AJ Ewing get his first hit? Can Austin Barnes maintain a .667 average for the entire spring? Watch this game on WPIX. Discuss.
6. Decent showing by the young 'un Wenninger.
7. Alexander's spring training ERA is now 54.00. Mets scored again, up 5-0!
8. Jack Wenninger started for the Mets. Mike Tauchman (a three-run blast!) and Ronnie Mauricio both have hit home runs and the Mets are up 4-0.
9. Christian Pache's worth watching. He's 3-for-5 so far with a homer, a RBI and a 1.800 OPS and is just about the team's best hitter so far this young spring.
10. Vidal Brujan: Brujan was removed in the sixth inning of Monday's Grapefruit League game against the Blue Jays due to an apparent hand injury, Andrew Tredinnick of The Bergen Record reports. He went 0-for-2 with a walk and a stolen base prior to exiting the game. Brujan appeared to suffer the injury when his hand got stepped on by a Blue Jays infielder on a stolen-base attempt in the top of the sixth. The 27-year-old drew the start at shortstop Monday, and assuming the hand injury isn't anything too significant, Brujan could break camp as the Mets' top option at the position if Francisco Lindor (hand) isn't ready to go for Opening Day. Injury Hand. Day-to-day.
11. Michael Conforto is now off the list. That leaves us with: Starling Marte Frankie Montas Max Scherzer Jesse Winker Justin Turner Wilmer Flores Tommy Pham Jose Iglesias Justin Wilson Joey Lucchesi Max Kranick Jorge Lopez Marcus Stroman And here are some minor league free agents: Omar Narvaez Erasmo Ramirez Adonis Medina Stephen Nogosek Tyler Naquin Outside of Montas, none of the remaining guys would really hurt the Mets if they gave them a look.
12. Mets release Jamdrick Cornelia, who has kind of a cool name.
13. I would like to know if there's actually a chance that this move won't be made or if we're arguing about something that has already been decided in the background.
14. We do actually have a larger core of active members than I thought. Of this site's top posters, the following have been active within the past couple weeks: Edgy MD Frayed Knot kcmets Johnny Lunchbucket MFS62 Benjamin Grimm ashie62 G-Fafif Fman99 metirish Lefty Specialist whippoorwill Centerfield bmfc1 Cowtipper Marshmallowmilkshake Methead metsmarathon A Boy Named Seo Gwreck TransMonk The Hot Corner Chad ochoseis smg58 stevejrogers cal sharpie Bob Alpacadaca DocTee duan RealityChuck rchurch314 It should be noted that a good chunk of the other top posters haven't been active since the 2025 regular season, which implies they really only check this site out when the regular season is going. Therefore... I would say, at the very least, don't make the decision now. Wait until we're deeper in the regular season to see if traffic rebounds. If it doesn't, make the call then. I'm not fully amenable to the idea of moving, but if it should happen there is a decent core that could still bring the culture with it, even if we lose a good chunk of them. I'm slowly shifting from being sentimental to practical. I'm not fully convinced, but if this site is on a lifeline, then you gotta do what you gotta do.
15. Starter as yet undecided. Astros will be starting Jason Alexander, who has since moved on from his role on Seinfeld. Watch it on SNY. Discuss.
16. That was me, and I was serious about going to Reddit. But Reddit would've been the host; we would have still been in charge; membership still would have been us and whoever we invited or accepted to join; and it looked like this site was on the precipice of disappearing then, too, and my goal was to preserve the community and spirit then, too. So that wasn't in jest. If the choice is between keeping this site alive in some form or losing it in its entirely, which it seems like that inclination exists, then the first is the less smelly of the turds. But it's still a very smelly turd. And, whatever happens, as stated, none of it is life-altering. But this has been a fun distraction for the weekend.
17. So I guess the question is what happens if this change doesn't happen. I think I know the answer and either way CPF as we know it is cooked. If there is legitimate burnout behind owning it and no desire to shift ownership/offload some of the work to other members, then this site's existence will still be short. Since it's just one guys decision to pull the plug or not and that guy is clearly burnt out, the cord is obviously already in his hands as we speak, if you will.
18. What will be, will be, but ...
19. Wow, he got out of it. Mets win, 4-3. Good discussion, folks.
20. If it was just "dozens," Brock wouldn't be doing this. He wants to dilute dilute dilute to get eyes to get $$$. There'd be no incentive for him to do this if it was just dozens.
21. He's getting out of it. Two outs now. 4-3. Men on first and second.
22. Let's not paint it with too much shine ... "a lot of familiar faces" ... 10 familiar faces in a sea of hundreds of new faces won't seem like "a lot." We're the high school team; We're the secret club. It's those basic nerds we don't want to be like, yet that's who we're careening toward.
23. 4-3; still no outs. Man on third.
24. Blue Jays have a man on second and third. No outs. Uh oh. It's Trey McGough trying to get the save.
25. Bottom of the ninth! Mets up 4-2! It's a nailbiter!
