  1. Not a 1-2-3 bottom o' the first for Banks. Wright hits a 2 out sniggle.
  2. 1-2-3 top o' the first for Johan.
  3. Martinez - 2 Murphy - 2 Reyes - 1 Feliciano - .5 Schoenweiss - .25
  4. ="John Cougar Lunchbucket"]What's that guy doing in your seats then? My seats are.... KRAMER: Back and to the left JERRY: Back and to the left Back and to the left (well, back and to the right actually)
  5. ="John Cougar Lunchbucket"] I'll give you there's a resemblance but I'm much better looking. As to Heilman being booed - I agree that booing him before he even threw a pitch is bad but bouncing his first pitch to the backstop and then missing badly with the next three sure didn't help his cause.
  6. Pelfrey 3 Tatis 3 Beltran 1 Murphy 1 Evans .75 Feliciano .75 Schoenweiss .25 Smith .25
  7. That's fine and all that the proceeds are going to charity but Joe Fan has been getting so screwed lately you think they could've thrown him a bone here.
  8. That's really a bullshit price for those seats. If you bought some what are you doing with them anyway - putting them in your living room...? Not if you're married. And even if you could, they'd look like crap inside. Stupid plastic seats. You can get away with those old wood ones inside. Touch them up a little and not only are they seats they're also a conversation piece. Plastic? uh-uh. Putting them out in the yard? Great, you've just paid almost $1,000.00 for two uncomfortable lawn chairs that you can't move around. I would think about it if they were maybe $250.00 each, but $869.00 for a set is really nervy. Fuck them.
  9. Places I've been... Shea Stadium - a dump, but its our dump. Yankee Stadium - For some reason I just don't enjoy going there. Be it games or concerts. I just don't like it... Fenway Park - ...as opposed to Fenway which I really do enjoy. The small seats suck but the atmosphere makes up for it. Veterans Stadium - As a 13 year-old stayed in the same hotel as the Mets on a road trip. Met and got autographs from Dick Sisler and Joe Pignatano. Ralph Kiner left general admission tix for us at will call. Camden Yards - First 'new' stadium I went to. Really like it, great place to see a game. Petco Park - Been twice now. nice place to see a game, Great food. Dodger Stadium - Never understood why this place is held in such high regard. Don't see a big difference between it and Shea. I really don't. Sure it's got great vistas and walking in through the upper deck is kinda cool, but that's pretty much it. Wrigley Field - THIS is a baseball cathedral. Got the impression when I was there that that Chicagoans value and appreciate the park much, much, more than they do the team
  10. Delgado - 1.5 Perez - 1.5 Reyes - 1 Beltran - .75 Kunz - .5
  11. Santana - 3 Easley - 1.5 Beltran - 1 Reyes - 1 Delgado - .75 Murphy - .75 Sanchez - .25
  12. Delgado 1 Reyes 1 Smith - 1 Martinez 1 Wright 1 Tatis .5
  13. But can't you just see this as comic book series?
  14. Saw it. Gave it 3.5 bats. It was good, entertaining but long, and as Vic said - all over the place. As we left my 11 year-old said 'That made Iron Man look like 'Blue's Clues'

  16. LoDuca: "I apologize to the organization and the fans. I'm a better baseball player than I played," Lo Duca said. "To give me a chance to hook on with another team - big-time class act."

    Man-Ram

I would think Dodger fans would be over the moon about this deal but after checking the reaction on the dodgerblues forum its really mixed and I think even slanted toward a thumbs down. They're whining about giving up LaRoche. Odd.

Not that that's any better or less weird but at least it's two normal names hyphenated as opposed to some random bastardization. 'Terryvette' - sounds like a car for a dog.

    Man-Ram

="Frayed Knot"]I actually think this began by Manny getting scared that Boston WAS going to pick up his option(s) -- and do so only one year at a time and only at the club's convenience. It's gone beyond that now as things have crumbled into name-calling nonsense and threats, but I think that may be what started this insecurity he seems to have about the whole deal. Manny probably sees this time-frame (he'll turn 37 next spring) as his best shot at getting one last long-term contract - say 4 to 5 years - rather than being locked into a deal that pays him well but also keeps him from being a FA until he hits age 38 or 39 and over which he has no control. And even if a new deal doesn't net him the same per-year dollars he's hauling in now he can work it so he's getting paid at least through birthday #40. Hey, it worked for ARod. Frayed Knot-strodomus! Report: Manny will agree to a trade to Florida IF the team will cancel the $20 million club option.
  20. I agree with Matthews. MLB seems to be trying to position itself as a luxury item or status symbol. As Joe Middle Income - the passionate fan - gets pushed out, interest will begin to wane among the corporate drones in attendence who aren't there for the game anyway. Eventually MLB will have difficulty filling those seats at those prices. It's already started. I know for a fact that one of the top brokerage firms gave up 4 premier seats that they had at Shea for at least the last 20 years solely because of Citi Field's price hike.
  21. Meanwhile on WFAN, Chris Carlin (he of SNY's 'Loudmouths' and 'Beer Money' fame) is clamoring for Omar to give up the farm for Manny. Manny, he says 'guarantees a World Series', 'makes the Mets the best team in the league immediately'. Now am I wrong or weren't these radio dudes the same ones calling Omar out for having a thin system (as a result of the Santana deal) that couldn't even produce a back-up outfielder earlier this year? So, if Omar does what Carlin says - trade Fartinez and Neise to Boston for Manny - and it doesn't quite work out the way he 'guaranteed', does Carlin then say he was wrong or does he go on to bash Omar later this season into next for giving up the organization's 2 best prospects for a one-dimensional malcontent? I'd put my money on the latter.
