  3. I was thinking about Seaver and the soap. Forgot about Kranepool's hogging the spots.
  4. Nicely done Edge-mon. Can you tell me one bad thing bout the Mets that was in the book?

Ummm, I'm sorry but upon further review, Mr. Hartman was the Matt Lauer of 30 years ago on "Good Morning America" Yeah, some of us were alive then, we remember. ]Though I'd love to know what he was doing in full uniform. Celebrities used to play Met wives in softball for charity ]BTW, what year did Chico Escuala debut on SNL? Garrett wore aunthetic Met garb doing those bits as well. I'm going with '79 on this one. All the Chico action shots on SNL were Hendu. Baseball had been berry berry good to Chico until of course his book came out and everyone shunned him. Name the book...
  6. I don't have much more except that he had no idea it was coming and left because he was caught completely by surprise. How much would that suck? I got something else on someone else but don't want to post it lest Metly opponents get hold of it. (Psst. Meet me behind the loge section, I'll be the lonely guy with the beer...)
  7. I'm Nostra-dumb ass! (Credit to Nymr83 for that)

I got the dope on Trax's absence at the end of the regular season. His wifey served him with divorce papers and he totally freaked out and had to fly out to the west coast to see her/deal with it.
  9. I'm not usually one to toot my own horn but you gotta admit my timing was pretty good on this one.
  10. Do you think Lou Piniella knows where he is?

  12. ="SteveJRogers"]29 29 what? Posts you make an hour? Oh! You were 29 years old at the time! I get it. Pretty good memory for an 9 year-old.
  13. Double post.
  14. I'm behind the loge section waiting. I've got beer. Where is everybody? Hello...?
  15. To Meet The Mets!
  16. Raining quite hard right now...
  17. It says in the article that they were shooting a spring training game in which the Yanks lost to the Mets. If it is Foster and it is '81. Isn't the uniform wrong? I think the Mets were wearing tight polyester pullovers not the button-ups that that imposter appears to be wearing.
  18. That guy's gotta be playing George Foster. OE: but not if it's 1977. Doh!
  19. Thanks. You learn something new everyday. Lotsa rules associated with that DH thang. 6.10 Any League may elect to use the Designated Hitter Rule. (a) In the event of inter-league competition between clubs of Leagues using the Designated Hitter Rule and clubs of Leagues not using the Designated Hitter Rule, the rule will be used as follows: 1. In World Series or exhibition games, the rule will be used or not used as is the practice of the home team. 2. In All-Star games, the rule will only be used if both teams and both Leagues so agree. ( The Rule provides as follows: A hitter may be designated to bat for the starting pitcher and allsubsequent pitchers in any game without otherwise affecting the status of the pitcher(s) in the game. A Designated Hitter for the pitcher must be selected prior to the game and must be includedin the lineup cards presented to the Umpire in Chief. The designated hitter named in the starting lineup must come to bat at least one time, unless the opposing club changes pitchers. It is not mandatory that a club designate a hitter for the pitcher, but failure to do so prior to the game precludes the use of a Designated Hitter for that game. Pinch hitters for a Designated Hitter may be used. Any substitute hitter for a Designated Hitter becomes the Designated Hitter. A replaced Designated Hitter shall not re-enter the game in any capacity. The Designated Hitter may be used defensively, continuing to bat in the same position in the batting order, but the pitcher must then bat in the place of the substituted defensive player, unless more than one substitution is made, and the manager then must designate their spots in the batting order. A runner may be substituted for the Designated Hitter and the runner assumes the role of Designated Hitter. A Designated Hitter may not pinch run. A Designated Hitter is locked into the batting order. No multiple substitutions may be made that will alter the batting rotation of the Designated Hitter. Once the game pitcher is switched from the mound to a defensive position this move shall terminate the Designated Hitter role for the remainder of the game. Once a pinch hitter bats for any player in the batting order and then enters the game to pitch, this move shall terminate the Designated Hitter role for the remainder of the game. Once the game pitcher bats for the Designated Hitter this move shall terminate the Designated Hitter role for the remainder of the game. (The game pitcher may only pinch-hit for the Designated Hitter.) Once a Designated Hitter assumes a defensive position this move shall terminate the Designated Hitter role for the remainder of the game. A substitute for the Designated Hitter need not be announced until it is the Designated Hitters turn to bat.
  20. Wait - I thought if you pinch hit for your DH then you lose the DH. Not true?
  21. Watchoo talkin' bout Willis?!
  22. KC wrote: Anyone have any preferences for a place to meet for a pre-game beverage? I'm in the loge outfield, I think. There's a pretty open space behind home plate on the loge with plenty of stands close and it's kinda central to the whole ballpark? That would be Sec 1 and 2. I plan on getting there early, is 7:30 too early for a toast? I've resigned myself to a wet and cold night, bring it on Mother Nature. That works for me. Loge, behind homeplate, 7:30-ish.
  23. If you go to WFAN, on the front page there is a list of the station's 'personaliities' and next to them are sound clips from their various shows. I'd post links but can't figure out how. Two clips that I'd recommend are the Mike & The Mad Dog Corey Lidle interview from October 9. It's about 14 minutes long and quite amusing. Seems Mr. Lidle took umbridge with something M&MD said about him and called in to defend himself. Lidle quickly shows that while he may be a professional baseball player he is clearly an amateur on the airwaves. The other clip is about 44 minutes long and it's Steve Somers and Jerry Seinfeld discussing baseball, sports, etc. Not as funny as I had hoped but interesting nonetheless. I believe that you have to have 'RealPLayer' to listen to these.
