  1. Just so I understand - This is all really about putting the soon-to-come MLB channel on a basic tier. Cable was/is not willing to do that but DirecTV is if they get the exclusive on the Extra Innings package for 7-10 years. MLB wants the MLB channel on basic because it reaches more people and they can charge advertisers more as a result. I'll assume that cable was not willing to make that deal. So by 2009, if one wants either the Extra Innings package or the MLB channel one would have to get DirecTV. I'm thinking I'll hold off on the satellite and see how the MLB.com feed is this summer.

  3. I never claimed that the Billy Squier incident was anything more than an embarassing 'DOH!' moment for me. 'Twas Dickshot that alotted him 'starfucker' status.
  4. You make me laugh Mr. Dickshot. Dude - can I help it if I tend to be in the right places and the right times?
  5. Just so happens that I know Mr. Bowman.
  6. Roy Campanella Jimmie Foxx
  7. How am I supposed to complete a collection if this is what these friggin' things are going for? Unbelievable!
  8. ="Elster88"]I hope you're not getting dizzy up there on that soap box. It's good to know that I can be arrested for getting lippy with a cop. Certainly something for which I should be charged with a misdemeanor. There is no law against being a smart-ass, airport or no. I'm not saying the cop was right. I'm saying that no good comes from being 'lippy' or being a smart ass to a cop. So why do it? Why give an officer a reason to even think about giving you a hard time? Don't prostrate yourself before them, but have a little common sense. And it's a soup box.
  9. How about you don't fuck around with cops or semi-cops period? Their job is difficult and stressful enough that they shouldn't have to take shit from people.
  10. I like JD's thinking and I voted 'other'. Number 3.

I remember that whole J.R. Richard thing. It was sad really. I remember the grumblings about his being lazy, about nothing being wrong with him. I was in L.A at the time and as N.L. West rivals the Astros were paid a bit of attention in the Los Angeles papers. I remember whiffs of racism surrounding those 'lazy' remarks as well. When J.R. finally did collapse, no reference whatsoever to misdiagnoses or the laziness could be found anywhere. A sad story really. I think years later he was found to be living under a highway overpass. Dontrelle Willis reminds me of J.R.

I mean no disrespect to anyone by posting it. Irish's comment reminded me of it and it's just an incredibly well-played out scene by two great actors.

Also, the first 92 I found has a barcode and a "display until October" thing on the bottom - I think I got a freakin' newsstand copy. Maybe the newsstand copy is the revised copy? Thanks I'll check my '92 for that.
  14. Look at those long freaky toes on the brunette though. Yecch.
  15. That was the tamest shot of the batch that I came across.
  16. ="Johnny Dickshot"]Fortunately for us, Cole Hamels is a wildcard in that he drinks and parties too much. He recently married ex-Survivor skank/Playboy model Heidi from a few years back. I think the Phillies are very capable of playing better than us this year. This is 'Jenna & Heidi from Survivor 6 Amazon' Which one is she?
  17. Gracias.
  18. You are correct and Steve did indicate that when he gave me the list.

Wondering how I was going to explain that one to the missus if I won. Fortunately/unfortunately some other dude won it for $380.00. Good luck with yours as well. I have some doubles of some yearbooks that I'd be willing to part with if your needs match up. What years are you looking for? ="KC"]I have the '92 Bonilla Spanish one, so that exists. I'm sure I have another one too from the 90's but I'll have to look at home to see what year. Thanks. Guess I'll keep looking for Senor Bonilla.
  20. In March of 2006 SteveJRogers and I had a PM discussion about Mets Yearbooks. I have been collecting them over the years and wanted information relating to exactly how many different versions there were from each year. Steve, of course, had the information (included below) and was kind enough to share it with me. Over the past year I have been trolling ebay with this information in hand in an effort to actually have a complete collection of original and revised yearbooks. I've spent a bit of money, gotten quite a few yearbooks and have had fun doing it. Of the 90 some odd editions that Steve's list indicates, I'm about 13 short. 7 of those that I need are from 15 that were issued in '62, '63 & '64. Those do get to be a bit pricey so it's gonna take some time. At this point though I think that there are some on Steve's list that might not exist. For instance - everytime I see a 1971 book I ask the seller what the roster date listed inside it is. Always the answer I get back is either 'March 30' or 'July 9'. I have those books. According to Steve's list I need the 1971 versions with the roster dates of April 6 and May 2. I'm wondering if those versions are actually out there. They could be rare I suppose but why would they be any more or less rare than the original version from that year or the July 9 version? Even if they were rare, wouldn't I have seen at least one at some point? Also - I'm not convinced that there was a revised edition for '92. And if so how can you tell the difference from the original? Lastly, I'm doubtful that there were Spanish language editions published in '92 and '98. Been looking high and low for these with no luck as well. If anyone can tell me positively, either by going through your own collections or just maybe you know, whether or not those editions that I've asked about do exist or not, I'd be grateful. Other than those I singled out, the rest of Steve's list seems accurate and has been beyond helpful to me in my childlike endeavor. So again a big thank you to Steve for sharing it with me. ]YEARBOOKS This section contains all Mets-related yearbooks issued to date. 21. Totally sux. For the first time last summer we were able to watch the Mets at my in-law's house in Massachusetts. That's over unless my father-in-law buys a dish. The article doesn't indicate when this is going to start though. the '07 season? I'll tell you though, DirecTV made a good deal for themselves. Lots of people are going to go buy themselves that dish.
  22. Road trip for Nutria Anus Balm give-away Day!
  23. Jeez Yancy, your obesession with this is - theres no other way to say it almost childlike.
  24. Opinion: Kingman was a poor man's Mark McGwire. Fact: After 435 career games Jose Reyes has only three less doubles (82 to 85) six less homeruns (33 to 39), 41 less runs scored (352 / 301) and 64 less hits (588 / 524) than Captain Intangibles had after 480 games from the start of their careers.

    The Onion

Sure The Onion makes me laugh but it seems that all they do is just write like they are from Bizarro World. They just make the story exactly opposite of what it is and 'poof' hilarity is supposed to ensue. Am I wrong?
