  1. Omar's on now. Geez he's hard to listen to. Wants Church to play everyday... Didn't want LoDuca back solely for defensive reasons (yeah, uh-huh)... Torrealba's agent and the Mets agreed not to comment on why the Yorvit deal fell through. Not concerned now that Yorvit's agent is making noise about legal action ("Dese thins happen in my biznezz, youknowhateyemzayin...?")
  2. According to FAN this deal is done. Supposedly The A's and the O's were not interested in Milledge as part of any package and the Red Sox are now interested in Haren. So dealing Milledge doesn't hurt in terms of being included for a SP and the price for Haren has gone up.
  3. Omar's got to have something else in the hopper - he's got three catchers now and Milledge as part a package could've brought a starter. Please let there be another deal coming.
  4. If true - that will come back and bite the Mets right in the ass.

I think people understood that the rule wouldn't be needed to prevent a comeback from Clemente. My point is that the HOF rules aren't necessarily hard and fast and if a guy comes along and has 9 A-Rodriguian years and dies or something there would probably be a movement to make an exception.

Would you be happy with 7 years? 5? Then what do you do with the guy who has 4 great years and then dies in a car wreck? Besides exceptions can always be made in special cases. Wasn't the 5 year waiting time rule suspended for Clemente?

  9. No worries there tough guy, I'm just a simple insurance agent.

  11. I met a guy just last night who was from Boston and his last name was Leskanic. He said that when Curt Leskanic joined the Red Sox for a few games in '04 he was psyched to get a Sox jersey with his name on it. Alas, Curt only appeared in a few games for the BoSox that year and then moved on. How often does a guy with a last name like that get an opportunity like that? It's like hitting the lotto. Me? The only way I'll ever get close to that is if an immediate family member makes it big. Phoenetically, my last name is common enough but its of Gaelic origin and has serious overkill when it comes to vowels.
  12. Loosers have to be the Yankees.
  13. ="Edgy DC"]Missus Edgy claims I have "Mets Tourette's." If I come into a room and forgot what I came for, I start trying to jog my memory by muttering Mets-based jibberish. Yeah that is weird. ="Valadius"]...and Mets vs. Yankees checkers... My daughter and I play checkers with that set.
  14. In weird places? Nah, not really, but there is Mets crap all over my world. My son's room is chock full o' Mets stuff - pennants, lamp, posters, hats, balls, cards. The refrigerator in the basement has a Mets magnetic schedule from every year since 1994 stuck on it. My home office is adorned with an item or two including a ticket stub from Game 6 (wasn't there - someone gave it to me). My actual office in the City has one of those Mookie/Buckner autographed pictures and a ticket from Game 3 of the 2000 World Series and two game used balls - the first and only foul ball I ever got (Rockies 4, Mets 0 - at Shea 8/6/97 off the bat of 23 year-old rookie Todd Helton) and a ball Bill Robinson flipped to me after a game at Wrigley (Mets 5, Cubs 2 - 6/28/86).
  15. I'm leaning towards Lunchbucket's view. Let the Yankees give up the farm and overspend for 7 years this guy.
  16. While I want to stay on record as objecting to SteveJStalker picking up the song parody gauntlet - I believe that was and is Edgy's decision/responsibility - I shall participate should we go forward. After a few years I think I finally know the formula for success.
  17. I am 110% certain that you will be able to purchase a mug with the logo on it. I mean c'mon, there's money to be made! Nice logo though. I'm digging 'Split Shea'.
  18. ="SteveJRogers"]I'm game for a 07-08 edition of the CPF Song Parody Contest. "Know your place Rook."

  20. You'd have to ask Elaine.
  21. Valadius wrote: Then assume that two of Generation K 2.0 (Pelfrey/Humber/Mulvey) pan out, and we've got a sweet rotation, long term. Nice plan, but it never works out that way.
  22. I think I read that Laird is very good defensively. I'm not advocating Castro, Estrada or Laird. Just looking at what the Mets options are and trying to figure out what Omar's thinking.
  23. SteveJStalker.
  24. Oh, and you get a car with it.
