  1. ]They can also trade Matsui for anything, to get $$ relief. Ah, the random trade-Matsui-for-a-bucket-of-balls idea. I have yet to see a single post explaining who would want Matsui unless the Mets eat the contract.
  2. I guess this means no more pictures of people in agony? Great work, Yancy.
  3. OK, maybe Sal was right.
  4. Piling on, piling on. RMPL boss. My apologies to all for not realizing Fielder was going to win the Triple Crown next year.
  5. I didn't realize it was a guarantee. In that case, couldn't they have gotten a lot more in return?
  6. I am shocked by this trade. Milwaukee was building a solid club. Trading Overbay is a huge step in the wrong direction. Sucks for Brewers fans. Thank God I was born in the New York area.
  7. I'm guaranteeing Renteria hits at least .315 for the Braves next year. *sigh*
  8. ]without giving up more prospects, we can sign: - J.Encarnacion [or Wilson] (to start in RF); - Nomah (can move to 2b) - T.Jones (setup RP/spot closer); and - Washburn (LSP) - M.Myers (LOOGY) - Fick (LH backup at C/1b/Of) Can we get Pujols too?
  9. I don't have a list of the projected 14 DHers, but is Piazza really enough of a hitter to be one anymore? And if he is, but only if he replaces Super Joe in KC, why on earth would he want to go there? To play wife-swap with the Bensons?
  10. How could a reporter possibly start a rumor like this when he could risk his career and reputation? Have I beaten that line into the ground yet? Do I get the dead horse award?
  11. ]I think we still need: 1) a Frontline SPer better than Benson; 2) a few solid relievers, especially a LRP; [i think it was a mistake not to offer arbitration to Looper] 3) a 2bman better than Matsui; and 4) a better RF option than Nady or Diaz (or at least a LH bat better than Tike Redman that could platoon with one of them); Is that all?

  14. Vic Sage wrote: ]"He's got the body of a 30-year-old," Yeah, he's got the body locked in the trunk of his car. Valentin sucked when he was good. A warm body. whoop de damn doo. Who would you prefer? Stud players don't usually agree to take a backup infielder role.
  15. I don't get the common belief that having a major league backup (which is necessary by the way) on your roster blocks the progress of some punk from AAA. This will never make sense to me. I would've though A. Hernandez's 1 for whatever performance would've disproven this notion. Would you like to take a chance on a AAA being your backup and then having that 1 for whatever happen?
  16. I thought I read somewhere that the Twins want Cano if they are trading Hunter to the Yanks.
  17. Probably because you intend to buy it. At least that's what I plan to do. Even though I'll never wear it. I like having Piazza stuff.
  18. That name does not ring a bell.
  19. Hey Mex. Post in an existing thread.
  20. 3) Wright 4) Delgado
  21. Trading Benson and his 15 million over two years to bring Vazquez and his 24 million over two years doesn't make much sense to me. I thought someone posted numbers comparing the two and Vazquez was not appreciably better. ______________________ This post had the designation 104) Brian McRae
  22. I think so.
  23. metirish wrote: I'm certain they do that Elster, Star Wars would have to be ajusted to beat out Shrek I would think. Apparently they don't since the article says this: And, of course, with "Gone With the Wind" (the most popular movie in history in terms of ticket sales adjusted for inflation), the power of love has passed the test of time. If Gone With the Wind sits at four and is number one after adjusting for inflation, then I'm guessing the list as it sits is not adjusted.
  24. This deal about grossing is such bullshit, unless they adjust for inflation. How much do you think the 1977 Star Wars would've made in 2005 dollars?
  25. If you need to get your David Wright fix there's a long interview on the wfan.com with him. Click on the Mike and the Mad Dog link on the main page and it's about halfway down in the archived interviews. He was officially there to pimp his charity's event next week, but they just talked baseball and the Mets the whole time. M&MD were sweating him after the interview as hard as anyone here does. "Great kid" "Always says the right thing." "[u:7bdd9edd54]Perfect[/u:7bdd9edd54]". So when does baseball start?
