  2. This is exactly what I wanted to hear: ]"We're not counting on Mike Pelfrey helping us out in '06," says Minaya. "Nothing that happens (with the Mets) will force our hand with him, only his performance will force our hand to move him up." Are you listening cleonjones? This is how it's done.
  3. ]Scott Boras, a deal was cut for a team-record $3.55 million signing bonus and a four-year contract worth $5.25 million. ...
  4. We need more variety in Kaboom images.
  5. Nothing special.
  6. ]American Association (1882-1991) Typo there, I think. Unless it's been a very under the radar league.
  7. BTW, I am very proud of my hijack of this thread. Go me.
  8. Look, I don't want to tell anyone to vote. Saying "I think a person should choose how to vote for himself" is a little like saying "I think a person should choose how to write his own posts". (In other words, no shit.) But people should have some sort of justification for why they are voting, otherwise, what's the point of doing this? And if I want to challenge that justification, that's my right. It's called discussion and debate. _________________ Edit: I am a little surprised how many people are proclaiming that they believe people should choose how to vote on their own. What a radical belief (SC = 100) Is anyone really saying something differently?

The should not be subject to scrutiny, but they should be open to debate and question?
  10. I thought I was the only one who cared about silly voting. Trachsel and Nady got waaay too much love. ___________________ Maybe I'm the only one who cares. But at least it's something to discuss. When does the game start?
  11. I never saw the David Wright play, and forgot to TiVo Sportscenter yesterday. I'm very sad.
  12. Back before there was an American League, was it called MLB? Or was it just called the National League?
  13. That's too bad. I like Godzilla. (SC = 0)
  14. Interesting. So he does get credit for a complete game in the league record books? Does Floyd get a CG shutout?
  15. ="metirish"]This just makes me laugh... This picture is going to change every day.
  16. Cancel IGT mojo!!! Cancel IGT mojo!!!
  17. ]He's hitting .229 and has been dropped to the #8 spot in the order. Who gets dropped in the order based on only 30 games???
  18. ] Nady's ball had no business being caught and ina rain-shortened shutout that will get him a three from me. Let me get this straight Nymr. Your methodology is to give no points for the two hitters who hit doubles, and to give 3 points to a guy who went 0 for 2 with an almost-double. Makes perfect sense. Nady's ball was caught. It was a great play. Happens all the time. This ain't horseshoes and it ain't hand grenades.

Johnny Dickshot wrote: I think I know what you're saying, but have to add there ought be absolutely zero shame in getting a fan to "admit" they, for example, interpret something about the team they support from the perspective that they want them to be right, or hope it's accurate, or whatever. That's pretty much the definition of a fan. That doesn't mean they can't disagree, or be cynical, or think Omar's blowing smoke, or are unwitting swallowers of whatever information comes down the pike. For example, I admit I wear blue-and-orange jammies with the worst of them, but still thought the team bungled the whole value equation with Mike Cameron. But I sure hope Omar turns out to be right, and you bet yer ass I'll cheer for the success of that deal. That's what a fan does. There's no shame in that. None at all. does not equal this: ="Bret Sabermetric"] As JD says, he's got nothing to be ashamed about for rooting for the Mets, and trying to find ways to justify even their dumbest moves.
  20. Those were great irish. Better than the Onion's usual.
  21. It's a cute idea, but silly. Let's do it. "Cute, but silly" = CPF motto?
