  1. In a situation like that I have less of a problem with it. But the standard righty/lefty platoon, just because neither player is really good and because everybody "just knows" that you hit better when the ball breaks into you...that has never worked for me. Off the top of my head the only one that I can think of is Spencer/Garcia.
  2. Delgado 2.25 Martinez 2 Beltran 2 Chavez 1.25 Woodward 1.25 Reyes 0.75 Castro 0.5
  3. Rockin' Doc wrote: There just aren't enough points for this game. I think that if the Mets score more than 10 runs, we should be allowed to award a point for each run they score. Disagree completely. Easy example. David Wright went 1 for 5 yesterday with an RBI double. If we had won the game 1-0, then that hit is more valuable. Coming yesterday, I might not give him any points. Rockin' Doc wrote: Going to vote using the 10 points, but it seems that most of them are being greatly short changed for the performances they turned in. I don't see it as short-changing. Them's the breaks. Using the example above again about David Wright, if he wants a lot of Schaefer, then he should hit his RBI double in a game with less offense. One double is not as noteworthy or impressive when the entire team is teeing off on the same pitcher. If a pitcher is easier to hit off of in the particular game, then the hitter's hits are not worth as much beer. Degree of difficulty counts!!!
  4. Those are better than most of the others out there because they're so, er, personalized, for lack of a better word. Like: the references to running down the right field line, the location of the bullpen at Shea relative to where Lastings was playing, playing off of how Chipper named his son to name Lastings' kids, the cross around Lasting Milledge's neck is the secret to the Da Vinci Code, Jason Grimsley admitted to using steroids and turned himself over to the FBI after he saw Lastings Milledge was coming to town, Lastings Milledge beat Jose Reyes in a race running backwards, Lastings Milledge wiped the smile of Andruw Jones' face Lastings Milledge removed Rick Peterson's jacket.
  5. Yup, you're right. Thanks, Nymr.
  6. ]The Mets stole three bases Sunday, drew 10 walks and rapped 15 hits, 8 for extra bases, but not one was a home run. This is what I like. This team is not reliant on the long ball, which so many slugging teams can be.
  7. That's nice. ______________________ But back to what I was saying, I am not a fan of the platoon.

  9. I think you're missing the point of the game Irish.
  10. This may not count techinically, since the person who was wearing the hat has already been swallowed.
  11. Of course. I was trying to connect to Mole's original question though, so my point was more that....given the option, I'd prefer the easy way...which is unusual for a Met fan.

  15. Seriously, why do the Mets never get caught stealing? Bunch o' dirty rotten thieves.
  16. Nymr83 wrote: well, i gave Martinez "only" 2.5 for 5 innings 1 run (that can get a 3 or even a 4 sometimes) I thought he gave up both runs? Edit: I'm El SSSSSSSSSSid.

  20. ]But Randolph is fine with the situation and wants to let it play out after the trade of Kaz Matsui to Colorado as Jose Valentin and Chris Woodward take over second base. "We don't have a so-called everyday second baseman," Randolph said before Sunday's game against the Diamondbacks. "The guys we have out there, they put their heads together and get the job done just fine." Woodward started Sunday, but Valentin will get the majority of the playing team because the veteran has a more lethal bat and has been an everyday player most of his career. Randolph is willing to let it play itself out for now. "You don't have to anoint guys and this and that," he said. "There is no reason to do that. We can let Jose play, Chris play. I've been on many teams where it was a platoon situation or someone steps up. That's fine, as long as they get the job done." I'm not a fan of the platoon.
  21. Is that three days in a row??!?!?! TRIPLE triple-happiness?

The one with Hilary Swank doesn't count. In fact, it never happened.
