  1. that site chart is kool, but very charitable when it comes to specific views. Esp from those seat I was referring to. Hey ABG, if its not a cold day and you dont mind not seeing fly balls as they travel thru the air these arent the worst.....what am i saying. these are the worst seats in the house, lol. Still, like u say, id take em to see the Mets, and I have. A Met game is a Met game. I watched games from the subway platform outside, back in the day.
  2. mlbaseballtalk wrote: ="Willets Point"]Ah, $5.75 to see the Beatles (and no TicketBastard "service fees" I bet). Probably a small fortune then, but still. Then again most accounts say the show sounded like crap, if you could hear anything over the screaming. Still, it's the Beatles. Yeah, can you imagine back then Paul McCartney trying to do his bit at the end of Hey Jude where every side of the audience does Na na naaa na na na na Na na na na! Hey Jude Its funny, the Beatles were great live playing clubs in Liverpool, Hamburg, and small theatres in London Then they started the stadium concerts, and since they were the first they (everyone, Beatles, promoters, ect) had no clue how to properly put something that big on to the point that the Beatles just quit touring all together I just got a DVD copy of their very first US concert in Washington DC,1964. And there is truth to your statement about people not having a clue how to properly set up for such a large event in tose days. But the Beatles actually did have a clue, as I saw when they took the stage for the Washington show and proceeded to manually reset the entire stage. It was amazing to see, the biggest band in the world doing doing their own roadie work. They even took the entire drum kit and totally turned it around so it faced the same way the amps were. And, considering all the sound problems (the crowd, mic levels not balanced) they encountered right off the bat, they sounded alot better than I would have thought. They opened with I Saw Her Standing There, and I think it sounded better than thier studio version.

  4. mmmmm,36 days to kill til the season starts. This week Im gonna do something a little different.
  5. Johnny Dickshot wrote: Sorry, but the loge back rows absolutely suck, especially if you're up the lines: You'll miss one outfielder completely, lose the ball in the air, hurt your neck. But I'm glad they sold those to a MFY fan. I saw a 88 playoff game from these seats, last row, and they were AWFUL and it was FREEZING with some kind of wind going up our backs. Could only see a slice of the field. Enough, unfortunately, to see Kirk Gibson make his floppy not quite diving catch.>
  6. If Matsui would play like I wish and hope he can, he'd be good in that spot. Beltran is of course, a perfect fit and has proven himself comfortable there, and with the added artillery of Delgado, a repeat performance by Floyd, and the emergence of Wright, we can easily afford to do that. But I think Matsui has the tools to excel there and a good spring might give him that shot. A reeeeeeeal good spring. Otherwise Beltran, although he would be such a great number three hitter if he posted numbers like he did before last year. Both those I mention above wont be easy to double up. In any case, NOT Lo Duca. Thats wasting a spot that can be used for more productive things than just moving Reyes over.

  9. I touched on this rediculous quote in the 2nd base thread. Its the word "still" in that quote that sets the tone.

And zvon, dressed like that you shouldn't be wondering about anyone. Thats jock humor? Hope it translates that way to Kaz. ....and never judge a man by his cowl.
  11. ="Nymr83"]the draft is now Sat Mar 25 6:45pm EST, the weekend before the season starts. Im game. Any change plz PM me cuz I dont get down here to read often enough.
  12. Diamond Dad wrote: Six man bench, plus the ability to place two starters on the DL and pick up additional free agents to fill in seems fine to me. WHen the guy on the DL comes off the list, you have to cut somebody. This is the way Ive always done it and I second DD. One thing I was amazed about when first getting into fantasy baseball was the frequency of injuries throughout the league.
  13. whoops...afew more Buddy pics i found.
  14. I fear Yancy is right. We dont negotiate. We also certainly dont want to see you in the raw. Bret, Id give you the shirt off my back if it would help. Anything to cover you up. I keep hitting that link and getting this: (this is hilarious, esp those pics.)
  15. Matsui took Wagner deep in the 1st live BP session. And Randolf says: "He probably got lucky and he walked into it, we'll see" ???? to the press. Cripes. The kid need confidence. Whatchu thinkin Willis? For a guy who wants his players to act mature and like a "team" thats the most rediculous thing he could have said to the press. If he wants to make a joke like that with a coach or something, fine. But to say that to the press when a guy on the "team" has been struggling to fit into the majors for 2 seasons now? And he's showing possible signs that he could? Willie, you make me wonder.
  16. ]Should LoDuca bat 2nd? NO!
  17. Grote was a master with a pitching staff. He covered his turf like no one Ive seen before or since. Like a wolf. He was a great defensive catcher. Fun to watch. And though he gets the tag of weak bat, he would step up at crucial times and get the big hit. It may have just been a clunker to drive in a run or a slap to the gap for a double and afew RBIs, but it was usually in a spot we needed it most. I respect the man as a catcher more than words could adequately express. I wont go into how I personally felt about the man, cuz this is a tribute thread, and Ive actually posted that story before.

This is like when that guy tried to sell his snatched up domain name to the Pope.
  19. This is GREAT stuff Mr Rubin. Thanks for your time.

  22. ="Yancy Street Gang"] Thanks, Zvon. I'll probably do more when the spirit moves me. My favorite is the 1971 Mike Piazza. It reminded me of how exciting it was, as an eight-year-old, to find a 1971 Tom Seaver in a 15 cent pack of cards. My favorite Topps years are from 1971 through 1973; it was the peak of my baseball card frenzy. I like the 71's the best. They're simple and elegant. The 1972's are wonderful in that they're so hideous. And they don't even include the player's position on the front of the card. Finally, anyone who visits any UMDB player page can see my affection for the 1973 cards. I started around the same time,70, and collected regularly until about 77. '71 was also the 1st set I collected to completion. Damn, I loved those cards. The black border. Of couse, getting all the Mets was my favorite thing, and the World Series cards. The one with Brooks, it was such an awful picture of the catch off Bench, but I still thought it was the koolest WS card ever when I first saw it. Well, not as kool as Agee's, I guess.(the Mets '70 WS cards should have been in color!) Even in after i stopped collecting on a regular basis i made a point to try and get the Mets cards and if they had em in the set, the World Series cards.
