  1. No surprises here. I certainly dont wish this on him, but I wouldnt be surprised if as he gets older all this stuff comes back and bites him on the ass, healthwise.

Then we snuck out onto the field. There were these people sweepin the isles and stuff, but they paid us no mind. The lights were down and they looked like zombies. We ran around the field (there was a tarp over the plate, which was a bummer-but we slide into second!), went into the dugout (there was this lil creeky catwalk back down those steps to the tunnel to the clubhouse), climbed up into the scoreboard (there was a ladder near one of its legs.). We explored the place for some time. The actual door to the clubhouse, in this horseshoe tunnel runing under the seats, was locked. Had a ball that night. Eddie! If you ever read this, its me! Warren! lol
  7. cooby wrote: Stupid question: Was Shea finished? It really looks bare bones Yea. It was finished. Hosted the '64 AllStar game. But they did make some changes and additions (like the plexiglass outfield bullpen section of the fence), that ended up being the way Shea looked for many years, until the overhaul in the early 80's. Thats when they changed the color of the big scoreboard and the outfield walls to blue. That big square thing on top of the scoreboard with the Met logo in it- that was supposed to be a screen where a slide show showing the current batter was supposed to be displayed. I dont know if they ever got that to actually work (never saw it in use myself), but I was up in there (in the scoreboard) in the early 70's and it contained the remains of a humongous revolving slide show projector.

  9. Mantle in his prime. Lolich after he came to the Mets or Carlton after he left the Phils.
  10. He's gonna start a whole new fashion with the wool cap under the hat. Im gettin me one a those wool caps.
  11. ="Bret Sabermetric"] "..for the New York fans with their conveniently lower standards of excellence, which allow us to satisfy some of them simply by showing up in April wearing the correct laundry, God bless them all for their kind hearts." HEY! I resemble that remark! Cept for the word convenient......and lower, and excellence,and,.mmm....lets see,...scratch out standards/allow us to,..and add some other words in there so it makes sense......... And Im proud of it.
  12. ="Willets Point"]Nothing warms the cockles of my heart more than seeing an IGT. Its beginning to look alot like baseball. ]Mets at the plate: A couple of the new Mets had big games. Xavier Nady racked up four base hits and six RBIs, including a grand slam, and Carlos Delgado went 3-for-3 with two runs scored. Jose Reyes and Tike Redman each tripled. Mets on the mound: Steve Trachsel wasn't sharp, allowing four walks and four runs in an inning-plus. Mitch Wylie pitched two shutout innings for the win in relief. Billy Wagner's Mets debut went solidly; he pitched a shutout inning with one hit and one strikeout. BRINGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG IT!
  13. And Kepp's injured. That leaves Matsui and Hernandez up for 2nd base. VeRyInTeReStInG
