It started June 16th alright, but the story wasn't Harvey and Wheeler. June 16th was the Kirk Nieuwenhuis Game (so let it be written, so let it be done). The double-header sweep was the 18th. They had lost 10 of 12 going into the Kirk Niuewenhuis game (so let it be written, so let it be done), including two sweeps by the Marlins, and were on the verge of getting swept by the Cubs with what, up until the ninth-inning rally, was just looking like a terrible effort. Then BOOM![/bigpurple] new life, whatever Bob Costas might tell you. #MetsCelebrateWins Doh! I know I should always double check my facts here. And hey, I'll go with that as the start. We have no idea where we are really going but that can be the start.

The idea that it's hard to find PT for everybody is a good problem to have. Ceets is right though. Nieuwie's gone .250 / .345 / .458 // .804 in 35 July trips, and launched the homer that started this hot streak. (#MetsCelebrateWins) That's good for a healthy shrift where I come from. When you're trying to win games this year thats a good problem to have. when you're hoping to find out which young players belong on the roster in the future it can be a hindrance. And it will be while the Mets try to show they have a team that can win and draw fans while they also try to evaluate the kids. Like tonight, Satin playing. Its a righty and Ike had a good first game, yet Satin gets the start. If you were playing with just a W in mind wouldn't Ike be in there? But you do want to see what Josh can do against a righty. I imagine Collins will be mixing things up with an interesting balancing act. And the balance will be between drawing fans now and setting the team up for next season. As a lame duck skipper I don't envy his position.
  3. Damn. Bad collision between Carrot Top and Brown on a pop up. Red took the worst of it, and held onto the ball.
  4. Apparently this Ross Ohlendorf is a different pitcher. He's the same guy, but a different pitcher.
  5. Wow. Shorty says Lagares is his centerfielder until further notice.
  6. From a pre-game article on CBSsportsline: Zimmermann is 1-1 with a 1.50 ERA in his last seven starts versus New York (45-53). Daniel Murphy and Ike Davis are a combined 2 for 29 against him since 2012.
  7. Since the June 16th double header when Harvey and Wheeler swept the Braves the Mets are 21-13. That was the start. If we can sweep the Nats today in this double header, this would be the hump. Now with Harvey going up against Ohlendorh I figure tonight is a sure thing. Ohlendorf has a ERA of 18.00 vs. the Mets. But we know there are no sure things with our Mets.
  8. Exciting win. Mejia with a great performance. Murphy is hotter than the month and Ike possibly gets his groove thing back. DO IT AGAIN TONIGHT!
  9. Byrd as well. 8-0 WHOA! 3 run blast!!!!!!!!!!!!
  10. Wright gets in on the act. 7-0. Hey, save the next seven for tonight.
  11. Thats okay. Murph likes rib eye steak singles too. 6-0 Mets 5 Ribbys for Dan.
  12. Mattheus breaks Muffys HR bat!
  13. Holy schmoly! Lagares with another double!
  14. Rice with a real nice 8th. 9 pitches. Sweet DP.
  15. Rice gets the mound, Newy gets left.

  17. Hey m.e.t.b.o.t., wanna go to a Citi Field sleep-over with me? I'll roll you up in my sleeping bag and sneak you in.
  18. Mejia done for the day. Great job! 0 runs, 7 hits, 7 Ks. I'm going to try to not get too excited until we see him pitch a few more times.

  20. lol. perfect picture too.
  21. Mejia up to 84 pitches as he takes the mound in the 7th.
  22. Murph drives in another with a seeing eye single to center. Hellz yea! And we got two games today? I hope the same Met team shows up tonight.
  23. Nice. Lagares drives in Reck with a 2 out single up the middle. Knocks Zimm outta there. From facebook via New York Mets Memes:
  24. Recker wrecks the outfield wall for a lead off double in the 7th.
