  1. When I'm making the cards I usually end up searching for pics. Now I look to see if the spot is around. I usually run into one. Or two or three.
  2. This one might not be fair because you can't really see his face. But he has been named in this thread so I'll throw it up. Played for the Mets. According to the caption to this photo, which I've learned in many instances can be wrong with these online photo places, this is that ex-Met player pitching batting practice for the Dodgers in 1973. Who is he? His name is in this thread somewhere.

  4. This guy was a Met. Not a Met player. Played for the Braves for 10 years. Managed a Met minor league team. Was a coach on the big club for a few years.
  5. Recker up to wreck the Giants. 2 out tying run on second.
  6. Edge in the groove.
  7. Wow, I really thought Abreu was off the bag. Replay shows all his weight was on the bag.
  8. Do we have another comeback in us?
  9. That was a tough break.
  10. Shit. I missed that half and now its 2-0 Giants.
  11. It is worthy of note to me that d' is in the lineup after the shot to his shoulder. We notice these things, as does the booth.
  12. Niese pitching fine through three. Crap, so is the other Bumgarner.
  13. Does he deliver the paper?

The stadium, the road near the stadium, that area in the park, the,...wait! None of them have been named after him! This is gonna put Tom over the Top. But he can only go on one of these cards. You make the call. Which looks kooler?
  16. Text message string between my neice and I: That is the koolest. Ask her to ask him where Satin learned to dance. Eh, run. Whatever it is he does out there.

If you enlarge the photo, you can easily see the tarp covering the front opening to the frame structure. So it only took the Mets like 15 years before they thought, hey, maybe we should put some stands here. Nah, thats far back by the "Clendenon Corner". Maybe they always were there. We need an aerial view. Yo, maybe we could find this spot through Google map! The photos aren't necessarily inconsistent. You just can't see the stands from the Clendenon angle. But the stands should be there -- just out of frame. Wait a minute! I didn't mean that Torre's lying on the ground at the Sadecki Spot. I meant that you can see the Sadecki Spot in the background to the Torre photo. I getchya. Torre would be across from Clendenon to the right. Ive found a few fields down there with google map. Not field to field with no fence separating. But I think if they updated the fields eventually they would have made them more independent of each other. I'm looking around the Tampa area. Lots of area too look at. Ill just look for a few more minutes and give up for tonight. I think I'll find it at some point. I don't think this is it, right off 78th st. But I expect to find a bunch of areas with fields down there.

  20. batmagadanleadoff wrote: I'm gonna guess that Butterball, photographed above in 1962, was in fact standing at the Sadecki Spot, and that the Mets, since then, changed the back fence and built the mysterious cage structure that, from our photos, first appears in the Westrum shot minus the tarp. I base this on the line in the grass --- it's jutting out from near the corner where the two back fences meet and angling toward the field. It's in every photo. I'll concede to the lead off man. So we have the evolution of the Spot. I move that Sadecki keeps title of the spot until some one else is pictured there twice. Then we will have to put it to the people for vote. Three times takes the title. Whoa on that pic of a grey Grote! Thats a good close up. The #6 guy looks a little like Millan. But he never wore 6. hmm. So theres water on the one side, looks like it could be a cement area, parking lot maybe, on the other side. I'm gonna make a diorama of the spot.

When Q came up as a pinch hitter I was just gonna close the game again. Then I felt might as well have tagged there on Qs pop to right, its not like anyones going to drive it in with a hit. And then Satin comes through. Classic baseball.
  23. Wow. Gary had hair once.
  24. Out of no where comes Centeno. If what Gary said about Matz and Harang being the way the Mets might go next season is true there is going to be a problem.
