  1. Wow. What a frame. FOOD FIGHT!!!
  2. To review: three straight Ranger infield errors load the bases with none out, followed by a Ben Revere grounder to first which Mitch Moreland fires home, ostensibly in hopes of the 3-2-3 DP... only Dalton Pompey ankle-whips the catcher Gimenez (a play reviewed and upheld as legal). Then, after Hamels is given the hook (after not allowing a ball out of the infield this inning), Josh Donaldson's pop-force-out at second off reliever Sam Dyson scores the tying run on what might have been the third out... and a Jose Bautista moonshot-- the first hit of the inning for the Jays-- gives the home team a 6-3 lead. Did I get it all so far? Also, is this the weirdest inning, top to bottom, in ALDS history? In postseason history? All 3 errors were on Andrus?
  3. That fans are hitting the shit!!!
  4. Wowzers! A bloop and a blast. Ugh, I know they get to do their little bat tossing displays, but I would have to drill him next time up, big time. You see that stare!???Not to mention the bat toss. Crowds throwing shit on the field!!!

The 1986 Mets remain the last NL club to win 100 or more games AND win the WS that same year. 100+ has been reached 15 times since, including this season's 100-win Cardinals team, but none of those teams went on the win the WS 1) 1988 NYM - 100 wins, lost in NLCS 2 & 3) 1993 Braves - 104 wins, lost to PHI in NLCS -- also the SFG that same year who won 103 but didn't even qualify for the playoffs in that final non-WC year 4) 1997 Braves - 101 wins, lost to Marlins in NLCS 5 & 6) 1998 Braves - 106 wins, lost to SDP in NLCS -- also 102 win Astros who lost to SDP in NLDS 7 & 8) 1999 Braves - 103 wins, lost to NYY in WS -- also the 100 win DBacks who lost to the Mets in NLDS 9) 2002 Braves - 101 wins, lost to SFG in NLDS 10 & 11) 2003 Braves - 101 wins, lost to (88 win) Cubs in NLDS -- also the 100 win Giants who lost to Anaheim in the WS 12) 2004 Cardinals - 105 wins, lost to Boston in WS 13) 2005 Cardinals - 100 wins, lost to Houston in NLCS 14) 2012 Phillies - 102 wins, lost to StL in NLDS 15) 2015 Cardinals - 100 wins, lost to Cubs in NLDS No surprise here. That list is comprised almost entirely of wild card era teams. Just another reason why I can't stand expanded playoffs in baseball. It cheapens the season and the game. Did the commentators give any reason for why 100 win teams aren't winning the WS? Yea, cause it's baseball.
  6. Wow. Crazy game here. Odor back peddled! Tsk, tsk. Tough chance tho, right over his head.

Holmes happened to be there because he worked for the Mets front office at the time. Holmes published a soft cover book around that time -- it was more like a small pamphlet -- on the art of hitting, or some batting tips book -- or something in that neighborhood. Holmes was pictured on the cover in his Mets uniform instead of in his playing days. I would like to see that picture. That would be one for the collection. I was way up in general admission, not quite the nosebleeds, just one ring under em, top level, 3rd base side. I remember something about Rose pulling off a bunt. The crowd, including me, was on him for bunting to try and keep the streak alive. And IIRC, that's how he kept it going. A late inning bunt single. The memory is hazy though.
  8. Ugh, how could they even question that slide at home? Gah, what are they doing to my game?!
  9. Whoa! He dropped it! Ha, I love baseball! Especially when I don't care about the outcome.
  10. Man, it is loud there. What a crowd.

  12. My brother came over from Penn. I unplugged from the web and had a great time except for the watching the game part. That's not true, I always enjoy watching Mets postseason baseball! But this was a tough one. Kershaw was nitpicking successfully and Matz was nitpicking unsuccessfully. Kershaw was just on. Great that Muffy got to him. I kept expecting them to break out every inning. I'll read the thread because I'm also curious as to deGrom getting up. This created a heavy discussion with my bro, he pro, me aghast. I think he brought me around though, but it all hinged on us getting the lead. With the NLDS cards I have avoided making any involving the Dodgers (ha!). I don't know if I'll be able to avoid that for this game. Damn that Turner. So we go five games. Nothing easy.
  13. Got my jersey on.LET'S GO METS!!!!!! [fimg=500:29m17y03]https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-kQiXJqUeb9I/Vh2ZkV0a0lI/AAAAAAAAhrE/qoA_k8IoNk4/s912-Ic42/2015mfcNLDSgm4nyGEARS-z15.png[/fimg:29m17y03]

  15. IMO Cal doesn't bring anything to the table. He's way to blah. I would love to see him manage the Nats, or star in a remake of The Amazing Calossal Man.

I'd prefer if they sucked meh balls. well, how are you getting the getty images? just publicly? if you had an account they don't have watermarks right? (I mean, probably 50% of the SBNation blog photos are Getty Images) I mean, granted, signing up probably means technically agreeing not to use said images without attribution. I'm a long time registered member there. I forgot I could go right to my account. lol. I'll see if I can make that work for me. It's been many a year since I went to the actual site. dinosaur jesus wrote: Edgy MD wrote: MLB.tv tells me I have free access to post-season games and post-season advertisements online as part of the purchase I made to watch regular-season games, but then they make me fill out a form telling them which TV provider I use. I don't use a TV provider, that's why I want to watch games online. And lies don't work! Yeah, I ran up against that too. I share my mlb.tv account with a friend who doesn't have cable (sharing's against the rules; sue me). I can watch the playoffs on TV and he can't, so naturally he wants to see them on (or through) his computer. His solution was to get a trial subscription to Sling TV, which carries the playoff games; the trial is free and lasts a week. Not so good if you want more than a week and have no intention of buying a subscription ($20 a month) after that. I saw that too. And Comcast wasn't even on the drop-down as a selection/provider. Whats the deal w/that?
  17. Ceetar wrote: you can search twitter for posts with images too. you could spring for mlb.tv and screencap stuff yourself too. There might be ways to get Getty Images accounts or the like as well. Actually it's Getty that does the quick watermarking. I'd prefer if they sucked meh balls. I have had MLB.TV for years now (many a card was taken from a screen shot), but I was so unaccustomed to postseason baseball I didn't know it was a separate deal to see postseason games. I found out late and so MLB.TV can also munch on my sac. I'm gonna pass on that for now. Might drop the 10 bucks for the WS if there is a good reason to. Gimme a good reason Mets!

Dugout/replay phone malfunctions supposedly. I think Mattingly was just being a dick and wanted to delay Harvester getting started but we may never really know... I vote dick. Zvon: how do you get those pics so quickly? Are you getting them off of TV? This has been a problem. Back in 2006 there were so many ways to get pics right off the net as a game was going on. Yahoo & google images searches (Mets NLDS) set to: posted LAST 24 HOURS. And there were other sources and feeds as well. That's all changed. No more quick results thru google or yahoo. You turn up nothing! Wasn't finding quick pics sources at all, and if I did they were already watermarked (suck meh balls Corbis). The first two cards were made from images lifted from an ESPN page header. The NYDailyNews photography feed can be quick but can't be counted on for that. ESPN posts photos right after the game but the quality/rez is so weak that I won't use em and you can't right click and save (enabled), you have to take a full screen shot. I have to think that's intentional. Suck mah balls ESPN. Through looking at various current means of social media I think I've found that the twitter feeds of different sports outlets post nice pics shortly after they are taken. Tumblr is very good, especially for .gifs. I was able to put out around 4 cards during the game. That's way down from 2006 when I had so many game images coming in I couldn't use em all, and had many more cards going up in an IGT. This is just a sign of how the net has been throttled. Twitter is best during the game (of course you must follow those who post em-ESPN,SNY,etc). Sometimes The Daily News is too, but certainly they have good pics an hour or two after. So the way things are set up these days it makes it very difficult to post cards as the game progresses. And that kinda sucks. ~spoiled by the free internet of 1998-2009
  19. Cooby's probably asleep on the good side of the couch. I see no reason why I shouldn't sleep in my Mets jersey. Lets get it over with tomorrow! Plus, the Colon at-bat(s) would've been a wonderful sprinkle of hot, salty nuts on the Game 3 revenge sundae. Bad things happen when you pull Colon. I just don't get White Jerry's thought process sometimes.. You have a pitcher who averages 6.2 ip per start and you pitch him like he's a vanilla relief pitcher. I have to agree. IMO this is a misuse of Colon (in both games he was used in). But we have gotten this far. I cannot complain. Doh!
  21. NO! We got our Bartman. NO! I didn't say that! Damn. I don't think it was out.
  22. I newly dub this The Grandy Dance!
