Mets Guy in Michigan wrote: Nice to see TC list Sandy on his Stand Up card! But stopping the game for this song is a bad move. Yea, just the "stand up" part would have been acceptable. What part did that song play?

By all means F cancer but what the hell is this mid-game concert? The game didn't start until 8:20. Way to grow the game, Manfred. Having said that, this was nice: Rising Apple ?@RisingAppleBlog 54s55 seconds ago During tonight's #StandUpToCancer moment, Terry Collins, Tim Teufel, and Daniel Murphy wrote that they were standing up for Sandy. Perfect. Ditto. I'm half paying attention. The gesture was beautiful. The timing was blotto. Just extend the 7th inning stretch. As a matter of fact when I saw that going on I thought: what is this the 7th already?

Big Papi is sitting and he's taller than Rosenthal.

Who wants to bet that Ken Rosenthal isn't the shortest adult male in the stadium.

TC interview. I love those Met caps. Those would be great for interior painting.

Am I still watching the home run derby? I don't hear any loud drunk guys...

Lefty Specialist wrote: Centerfield wrote: Hey how about an Honorable Mention to Granderson for getting his OPS up around .800. Not bad. Yeah, but his OPS with runners in scoring position is about .200. Yea, that was the big stickler. I knew there was one big common complaint that was justifiable. I tend to forget the bad stuff about the Mets.

Centerfield wrote: Benjamin Grimm wrote: You never have anything bad to say about Granderson! I'm tough on him because I only want the best for him. One day when he's older he'll understand. lol. I'm a big fan of Grandy. He got last years overall MVP. Considering his Aprils and Mays are usually down months for him, he produced throughout, albeit unconventionally for a lead off batter. But he reached, and that's the bottom line. His second half could vault him to the front, but as of now I have him around 3rd on my MVP list.

soupcan wrote: TransMonk wrote: Cespedes for sure. I wonder (hope) if Sandy is thinking of any ways of keeping him from opting out of his contract at the end of the year. I gotta think that all it would take is adding 2 years to the contract at whatever they're paying him per annum now ($27 mil?). And I gotta think they're thinking pretty seriously about it. They better be. Attendance for the first half was way up.

The guy who I think is the Mets First Half MVP isn't on the list. More categories makes for more cards Overall MVP? I might have to agree. And I suppose I should do one of those as well but I know my limit when it comes to jinxes. I've only named overall MVP at the seasons end. I have this Familia record breaker, but his record is still in progress. In that case I'm afraid to post the card. I know it's silly to think that way but with baseball I do all kinds of weird things due to superstition. I'm not that way with anything else in life. OO, I know what I'll do. Where the final numbers go I'll put STILL IN PROGRESS. WaLA. Jinx free.

I was hoping to make an additional Cabrera card. Cespedes has so many already. But they should reflect what's going on, and he's been going on in a pretty much consistent manner. Would Mets first half Cy Young be worth a poll? I figure Thor hands down but I haven't compared the rotations #s for a while now. Noah's the only one who has been dominating recently. I should find out which Mets pitcher had the best record ever by the break and name the 1st half award after him. Anyone know off the top of their head? Familia will get a separate award for closer, but maybe there should be a bullpen MVP. I really think Reed deserves something for his first half.

OOO, Flores got 2. Well, I will admit he is a force to be reckoned with. And he has been in the middle of big wins. He's been big in big wins!

Edgy MD wrote: I went with Cabrera, and indeed he's second on the team in WAR among hitters. But I honestly need to be changing my vote. It's Céspedes, pole to pole. Nah, Cabrera needs a few in his corner. I'm voting Asdrubal! Don't know if I set the poll for changes.
-
I haven't voted yet. I'm seriously considering Cabrera. I'm like Cooby, I like the underdog (don't know if I can call Cabrera a little guy). But I think of Cespedes numbers and I stall because they are tough to deny. To me, what we are getting from Cabrera is so far above what I expected. But that might not be enough to trump Cespedes. Yoenis is doing pretty much what I hoped and expected but that's no reason to take him for granted. I'll mull this over.

Who made that nice catch out in left? I put the sound down. Ha, this is actually funny if you watch it. All the right fielders suck. Felt bad for that old guy who ate some grass.

It's over. I didn't even notice. Pretty sure Stanton won. Oh, now the celebrity bullshit game. I'll keep this on but won't be watching. I'll listen to these guys yell for awhile. Making plenty of new cards though. See, just like Colorforms:

Mets Guy in Michigan wrote: Zvon wrote: Bermans going off like the drunk you never want sitting next to you. lol. Bad ass! Stanton is incredible! Those are bombs. Kudos to him for participating even though he's not on the team. Not on the AS team? I took him for a shoe in (oh yea, he was like blind for a few months at the start, I forgot). Stanton's great fun to watch. Out of all those guys he hits the most effortless kaBOOMs.

Bermans going off like the drunk you never want sitting next to you. lol.

This completely slipped my mind. Put it on about a half hour ago and I'm still not watching. Berman keeps yelling at me.

cooby wrote: I looked for Colorforms a couple years ago but could not find them. Very sad if they don't make them. I guess kids are into stickers now They still make em. The site says they can be found at Toys Are Us and I imagine you can order them thru that site. http://www.colorforms.com/colorforms-create-a-story/

This is for players. I'll do another for pitchers. I don't think I've ever done a poll here before. If I messed up or if someone isn't listed who should be lemme know.

I had many Colorforms sets as a child. That Batman was one. I loved those sets. It was like a little stage and you put on a play. Enjoyed many hours of fun. [fimg=500]http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-0DnWKZ8siQQ/TZ4ycyQzD8I/AAAAAAAADZM/qetOt9loru8/s1600/Batman+colorforms+inside.jpg[/fimg] [fimg=500]http://d2ydh70d4b5xgv.cloudfront.net/images/2/8/vintage-batman-cartoon-kit-colorforms-1976-in-original-box-491c5e4a9471dffe50516d8a40d8e9b6.jpg[/fimg] I'm looking for other old sets that I had and could only find this, probably my first. I was a big fan of Shari Lewis & her puppets around the time that I watched Romper Room and Captain Kangaroo every morning. A vague memory of this weatherman Don't recall a Beatles Colorform set. I would think Ida wanted one of those. Not sure when I grew out of them but having younger brothers they were still always around the house. With Colorforms, anything could happen! Not too many old sets out there. I guess these sets were well used and eventually discarded.
