  1. It looked more like humility on Delgado's part. If I was batting under .200, there's no way I go up on the top step.
  2. Julie Donaldson got out in time.
  3. Lotsa gripes from Chicago fans about how stale US Cellular (nee New Comiskey) is but really enjoyed watching games there. It's a fine park.
  4. Ray King is wearing #42??? Did he grab the Jackie jersey by mistake?
  5. Lunchy and I heckled a John Kruk look-a-like once at Shea. That's the extent of my shenanigans.
  6. B Grimm with the post of the day.
  7. Dykstra causing trouble? Nahh. I think I saw this on TV, or at least the front end of it as you described. But it appeared that a fan in a black Mets jersey was involved and he's not pictured.
  8. Doesn't like celebrating but tosses the bat 20 feet after hitting a home run. Dook shoulda knocked him on his ass.
  9. Try the Goose Island Honker's Ale. Yum. Try to hold it during the game. A piss break, with the long lines, may cost you about an inning and a half. Those troughs are a plumbing marvel.
  10. I'd like to see him in Kurt Rambis glasses. Pedro Felciano. How does any lefty hit that shit?
  11. I'm with AG/DC, end of seven. He stuck around for Lazy Mary, watched a few more at bats by the home team, and then hopped the train.
  12. Not only under inviestigation for perjury regarding his use of steroids but now they can add falsifying immigration/work visa documents if they really have a hard one for him.
  13. Yet another Chico and the Maine matchup fo sho. It reminds of a few years back when Glavine was with the Braves the first go-round. Bastard would pitch every Sunday game I went to.
  14. When SNY puts a poll on the screen during the game asking fans if there too much booing...yeah, it's gone too far.
  15. I remember Bucket's story. It was the day before, or maybe two days before, an early 80's banner day twinbill with the Cubs. I went to that banner day having read about it in the paper.
  16. I think that the MBTN author should send a copy of the book to the bitter young Hodges boys with a nice note on that classy, glossy MBTN letterhead.
  17. Matt. Bat boy. Still Monstrous.
  18. The Philly Press is taking swipes at the Phillies players already. Tongue-in-cheek, perhaps. But probably not warranted this early in the season in the morning rags. Morning Bytes: Phillies need to relax, smile, shave By Frank Fitzpatrick Inquirer Sports Columnist Here are some early-season observations about some Phillies: Jimmy Rollins: If he's hurt, they're dead. Suggestion: Don't come back until the ankle's OK. Shane Victorino: Maybe he ought to change his first name to Chase. He's got six hits and just two walks in 37 at-bats and seems intent on flailing at anything in the ballpark's zip code. Suggestion: Bunts, ground balls. Chase Utley: He remains an offensive machine, but now we know why he's named Chase. It's what he does after ground balls bound away. Suggestion: left field when Pat Burrell departs. Ryan Howard: He's lunging overanxiously at the ball again, displaying more impatience than Larry Bowa at the ballet. Suggestion: Relax, you're making $10 million. Pat Burrell: There is nothing to complain about here except his speed, which approximates Jackie Gleason's. Amazingly, this Travis Lee disciple even showed some emotion last week, pumping his fist after a double. Suggestion: Smile. Geoff Jenkins: He seems like a good pickup, though his arm looks weaker than Charlie Manuel's grammar. Suggestion: Shave. Pedro Feliz: Seems like the tools are there, but, frankly, if he doesn't get his act together soon, Philly fans are going to make him feel more like Pedro Triste. Suggestion: Learn to hit a breaking ball. Carlos Ruiz: We like him behind the plate, but he's another guy who needs to mix in an occasional walk. He seems to have warning-track power everywhere but Citizens Bank Park. Suggestion: Shorten the stroke. Eric Bruntlett: He apparently got infield tutoring from Roberto Duran. Suggestion: Play deep. Brett Myers: His woe-is-me body language mirrored his two disappointing starts. Suggestion: Calm down, slow down. Jamie Moyer: With just a little help from umpires, this mound Methuselah can still get hitters out. Suggestion: Try the early-bird special at the Melrose Diner. Kyle Kendrick: I haven't seen this much nibbling since my rabbit died. Suggestion: Don't ask about Marty Bystrom.
  19. The Mets are 2-0 since Bucket posted Big Al's Air Strip story. Good Karma.
  20. The $275K is for the suite. Food and beverages much more. Doesn't look like there's a pisser in that suite. What, no privacy in the private suite?
  21. American Idol, for a while, was Gay Central. I believe only the 16-year old Archuleta kid expresses gayliness now. I'm just sayin.
  22. Chief meterologist Joe Morgan on the ESPN broadcast last night said that a wind sheer occurs between the new stadium and Shea, knocking balls down. Huh?
  23. Noted theold 7:30 start time which Mex hated...conflicted with his evening social agenda.
  24. I want your Brother-in-law's seats. I want to be your Brother-in-law. I want to marry your Brother-in-law (my wife may actually approve that offer, too, for those seats).
  25. yous guys are the best.
