  1. Beltran remains awesome with his 1100th RBI. That whore.

  3. 7.02 In advancing, a runner shall touch first, second, third and home base in order. If forced to return, he shall retouch all bases in reverse order, unless the ball is dead under any provision of Rule 5.09. In such cases, the runner may go directly to his original base. It doesn't. To me, this means Pagan was safe (Because as far as I can tell he didn't touch it.)
  4. LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr wrote: Um... okay. Pagan was out, for passing second, then not retouching the bag on the way back. (Replays inconclusive.) What's the rule? He didn't touch the bag in either direction, and only 'half' passed it. he was basically straddling it.
  5. I'm enjoying watching Jose Reyes change the narrative. It's rare that a player can do that. The stories when this thread started were all about trading him. As the season has gone on, and more and more of the writers of these stories glance down at the field and realize "Shit, this guy's pretty damn good isn't he?" they start understanding why he's going to be a lifelong Met.
  6. Jose Reyes - SS Justin Turner - 3B Carlos Beltran - RF Daniel Murphy - 1B Angel Pagan - CF Jason Bay - LF Josh Thole - C Ruben Tejada - 2B Chris Capuano - LHP Walking the Plank Tabata 7 Diaz 9 McCutchen 8 (Not the pitcher) Walker 4 (Don't walk him) Overbay 3 (I'd play him over Bay too) Wood 5 (Where's the hot girl for this thread?) Cedeno 6 Brown 2 (Don't let him get his uniform dirty) Correia 1 (too many vowels) How about win one for Emma?
  7. David, you're lagging behind. Get Well Soon.
  8. metirish wrote: Kinda cool DavidWaldstein Was looking at Beltran's career stats and noticed he has 289 stolen bases and 289 home runs. IN-CREDIBLE COINCIDENCE!!! Let's go and make a huge deal about 300.

The article doesn't explain whether CF's dimensions, or its' booing fans, or something else is the issue. I assumed Hojo was referring to its' dimensions. I assumed Hojo should shut up. Jason Bay was not really driving in runs last year, and that's part of the reason he lost his job.
  10. That struck me as a comment on the fans and booing and psyche. but maybe.
  11. Decided to pitch Tim Brydak in the ninth, as he will miss a few games due to a family illness. bereavement leave? who's getting the call?
  12. Everyone but Gee with a hit. Reyes with three, but he's Reyes, so you know..that's a slow day.
  13. Nats got a real winner here huh? http://flotn.blogspot.com/2011/06/nats-draft-bigot.html
  14. Sure, I'll take Jason Bay for Cody Ross. Bay's polite Canadianness gives my bench a friendlier attitude.
  15. dgwphotography wrote: I couldn't disagree more. Citi Field is a dull, lifeless place, that is devoid of color. Whenever I see a Mets classic on SNY, I'm struck by how much more colorful Shea was... I don't find Citi Field dull and lifeless, and I love the place, but it's far from perfect. (which is subjective obviously) the colored seats/wall was a Shea thing. We took the orange foul poles and the apple. that's enough. I'm not against Citi Field developing it's own quirks/color though. I like the kitchy stuff the franchise has done. I miss the neon players. for instance, i think it'd be cool if they reinacted the Buckner play similar to this: NOY1Sg5LuIo Also from Coors, there's the mile high line in the upper deck painted purple. I think it'd be fun to mimic that at Citi, painting an entire row of seats around the stadium orange. Doesn't ahve to mean anything. Or you could put it at the height of Agee's Shea home run. or you could wait until if/when a Mets player homers to the upper deck. Or just start painting the seats orange that Mets hit with home runs. make the outfield seats look rather speculed, but it'd be fun.
  16. Gee is the only undefeated pitcher in the league.

So let's say he sucks for roughly 16 more games, Sits in three of them, and reawakens on the second homestand against the Yankees, hitting 9 RBI on Friday night including a 3-run dinger off the opposite foul pole that's initially ruled in play. You predicted Bay would breakout in the first MFY series...It's one thing to be optimistic..but..cmon. Because your guesses for why he's slumping are any better?
  18. dgwphotography wrote: A "we want more power" way? How about a "we want the building to be more fair like Shea" way? I don't want the building to be more like Shea. In fact, I think some of these ways fans want the park to be more like Shea (such as blue walls) are a bad idea. Citi Field is Citi Field and Shea was Shea.

    Duda back

metsguyinmichigan wrote: Lots of Tweets saying that Duda is headed back, and Nick Evans designated for assignment. Did Evans even get any playing time when he was here? 17 PA. 0/12 with 5 walks. so, no.
  20. 4 for his last 9, all singles. 1 run scored. Not exactly smacking the ball all over the place or anything.
  21. Benjamin Grimm wrote: I think they should just put up a fence; no major reconstruction required. Run a fence (and make it look like the one at Shea!) from left field to right field, however many feet in from the existing walls. The walls are so high that people in the seats would be able to see over the fence, and there would be no ambiguity about home runs. They'd either land in the seats or in the gap between the fence and the wall. And that gap would be a great spot for Joe Pignatano to grow tomatoes. I hate that idea. I"m fine if they want to redesign things, but not in a simply "We want more power" way. If they create an outdoor Mo's zone by straightening the wall/seats there and having a standing area in front of the second. Then that's cool. Be fun to be there. If they want to create a similar patio type area in LF by extending the bottom 6 feet of the wall out some. More standing area is good, especially for when the Mets eventually make the playoffs and sell SRO and we start bitching again about the 44k capacity.
  22. Gwreck wrote: metirish wrote: Harper is all about trading Rodriguez to the MFY to solve both clubs problems, won't happen yet though he says. Interesting. I tentatively like this idea. Of course, his "problem" that the Mets have is the vesting option. I don't like any idea that treats the Mets season as a waste of time and like they aren't, and shouldn't, try to compete. I don't think he even suggests anything the Mets would want back. Just to get rid of him.
