One of the articles was raving about how even rain couldn't stop him. (he went into the clubhouse and came back out after it stopped raining) the article made it sound like he was Noah.

  4. It should be noted that it's a 7:05 start. If you wait until 7:10 you'll have missed a Jose Reyes AB.

  6. Not saying they're gonna lose the rest of their games, but I'd be surprised if they finish this high too.
  7. Frayed Knot wrote: They're like the anti-Mets of late. I'm suspecting that Johnson was the Nats target all along, and moreover, I suspect that Riggleman suspected it. Or, if not Davey, then their target was at least a guy named 'Not Jim Riggleman'. Not sure that would be enough for me to lose approx 400K over and probably kill any chance of ever getting the same job back all on account of not getting the job you've got this June guaranteed through next September ... but that's his call not mine. On the other hand, in terms of his qualifications he really quit while he was ahead at what's probably going to be right around the high-water mark for the Nats. He'll be credited with getting them going, and if/when they fall back down it won't be his fault.
  8. bmfc1 wrote: Why are the Mets playing the Tigers this year (other than to make MGIM happy--which is a pretty good reason)? The Mets played the Tigers last year. The Mets are not playing any other team from the AL Central. Instead, the Mets are playing teams from the AL West except for the Mariners. I'm trying to find logic in an illogical system. Also, from Wikipedia: "The New York Mets have never hosted the Chicago White Sox. The 2 teams have only played once in Chicago in 2002." Yearly Summary 1997: NYM won 0, DET won 3. 2004: NYM won 3, DET won 0. 2007: NYM won 1, DET won 2. 2010: NYM won 2, DET won 1. Oooh, another franchise we have a shot to go above .500 on historically.

  10. bmfc1 wrote: Good point Ceetar. Why activate him to face Linecum and Cain (the guy that beaned him) then have him rest for 4 days (he'd probably skip the ASG but go anyway to sit) when he could be in the minors facing real pitching. There's no way around the MFPs staff unless he "needs" another few days of rehab games. Well, Bisons are off M-T-W too. No guarentee it's Lincey and Cain to finish off that series. It's also 20 straight games without an off day after the break, which seems harsh.
  11. bmfc1 wrote: It was nice to have a day without news of a Met injury, team finances or somebody saying something stupid. The only newsy item I heard was Ed Coleman telling Steve Somers that David Wright could be available before the ASB but it would make sense to hold him back until after the ASB. I'm of two thoughts on that, I think they should get him back here, and he wants to be back here, sooner rather than later, but I think one of the big mistakes they made last year was bringing Castillo and Beltran back immediately after the break. Beltran got 4 days off after rehab, and then jumped right into MLB pitching. That seems a rough transition, and is it really any surprise that they struggled? With the extra day off you could have Wright play in AAA on Thursday before bringin him up. Of course, do you want the first three pitchers he faces in the majors to be Halladay, Lee, Hamels?
  12. Edgy DC wrote: I'm also sort of surprised there was no off-day news yesterday. I kind of got the impression that if Francsico Rodriguez was auditioning for the Rangers on Sunday and failed. Yesterday was really slow it seemed. Summer doldrums?
  13. Good stuff. Hope the Mets can declaw the tigers. I assume they have a mascot that's a tiger? or no mascot? How's the park play, home run wise? (not that that seems to matter to the Mets) pretty fair right? It's not midge season is it?
  14. Anyone else read the bankruptcy petition (PDF)?? Manny Ramirez and others have listed "scott@borascorp.com" as a contact email. Have some thoughts you'd like to send his way? Now's your chance! Ishii supposedly used his personal email. figuring out emails is not hard though. I don't know if players check their work email, but I bet it's jreyes@nymets.com or jbreyes@nymets.com dwright@ cbeltran@ idavis@ can do the same for most of the WFAN hosts if you're into berating them too.

Ceetar, you're a wonder at talking about things that didn't happen as evidence as to why they will, but not so hot with actual events, especially if they conflict with the pre-written narrative of hope and miracles you've got going on in your head. A scorcher off the wall is not the same thing as a single. It represents power, even if it didn't clear the fence. He hit the crap out of the ball, it was nearly the Grand Slam in long time. (and it also wasn't his only XBH of the day) The ability to tattoo the wall with doubles is much more suggestive that a guy is capable of hitting some home runs and likely will, than it is that he's a singles hitter and the Mets got lucky to win the series.

I just sigh. who are you again?
  17. Vic Sage wrote: And they did get a lot of near misses with home runs yeah, because that's how that works. Duda rocked one three inches from the top of the wall. fraction of an inch lower and it clears the fence, a fraction of a second faster and it clears the fence more to the right. There were a couple of other hard hit balls that went far. It's not like they were just stringing singles.
  18. metirish wrote: Why do people think Citi will be over run with yankee twats?, did they all buy tickets in anticipation of whatshisname reaching a personnel milestone? There are always a decent amount there. tickets are cheaper, it's a nicer place, easier to get to, and park at, for drivers. But like all these games, whoevers winning will have the most/loudest fans.

The team still seems to be looking for answers. They're just managing to find a series of temporary ones right now. *Citi Schmitty. If this team can't hit homers in Arlington, they can't really hit 'em. That's fine. I feel like they've outplayed some teams, like the Phillies in some cases, and lost. And they did get a lot of near misses with home runs

If he then bombed his next start as a result of not running or throwing a side session or whatever? If you haven't already? Yes. Because it's not his wrist or his hammy; IT'S HIS FUCKING HEART. Maybe they should put him on the 60-DL, just to be safe.
  22. if SNY doesn't have Niese's current heart rate up on the scoreboard next start the Mets are lost.

I kind of doubt it too, but who knows. I do know that if you're on the DL you're not allowed to benchjockey. And how do you enforce that, except by kicking out active players? I don't remember the punishment. looked it up. Basically ejection. Which doesn't really do much besides banish him from the bench.
