I wouldn't mind seeing this guy eat one anyway. he should've at least gotten beaned, he didn't. it was hard for me to tell if he was just really going in hard or really trying to hit Murphy's leg. As he slid his leg came up and dug into Murphy's calf, jarring his knee.
  3. metirish wrote: They should get rid of the strength guy along with Wharten eh? Seriously, can you explain your hard on for Dan? I"m sure you can find it in my comments at the end of last year. I will reiterate them this year it looks like.
  4. Ashie62 wrote: Is Reyes more likely day to day or month to month..I missed it. Murphy got hurt bad.. same 'minor' strain as last time. Probably one of those things that'll keep cropping up until he sits with his legs up for a month. Makes me wonder about the "strength and conditioning" though. pregame workouts,e tc..

  7. metirish wrote: Wayne did make I thought a good point about Parnell, he needs to learn how to throw a curve ball. No matter how hard you throw players sitting on heat will hit it, even 50 year old Chipper. it was a slider. Three straight sliders, and Ron was upset about that. Although, he reflected, the slider did get the ground ball, just in the wrong spot. we need a new pitching coach that can teach pitch selection though, Warthen is pretty much lost, leaving the pitchers to fend for themselves, or Thole, who isn't exactly experienced.
  8. I don't know how hard and fast they stick to the 'rule' but it seemed like the SI Yankees tried to stick to the numbers of the 'real' Yankees. The SS, Cito Culver, was wearing number 2. He stepped out of the box annoyingly like Jeter, He tried, and failed, to make that stupid jump throw like Jeter. Catcher was 20. I heard someone mention this rule, but it didn't seem to fit across the roster.

  10. metirish wrote: Nice, seriously, I agree on the burger.....looks like something shat on it....you ate it thought right? I ate it, my wife ate half of hers. (we had an all you can eat package..it came with a free SI Yanks hat too..bleh) The hot dog was better...barely.
  11. Brian Harrison, 3B Starting Pitcher Carlos Vazquez One of the stupid mascots watching the game Scooter's Starlets, basically young girls dancing somewhat disturbingly on the dugouts. Hey, it's Staten Island. Quite possibly the worst hamburger I've ever had at a ballpark Another mid-inning entertainment thing. Giving babies lemon juice. Boxing match with mascot "Holy Cow" (says scooter on back) Great view of the Freedom Tower from the park New draftee Jack Leathersich, the Leather Rocket Frank Viola to the mound Final Out, Cyclones Win Not the most impressive fireworks display ever, but still nice.
  12. and the losing streak is over. now to turn the TV off before I'm subjected to Ojeda.

  14. Jason Bay is slowly having a not-terrible second half. Wonder if there are/were lingering effects from that concussion. (or the ribcage or whatever it was earlier this season)
  15. everytime a Brave goes on the DL I get mad. Stupid Mets couldn't have one a couple more games to be able to capitalize on a beaten and battered team? Boo..
  16. This one would've been nice in focus. Why i need a real camera. And this one's a quick video of one pitch: https://picasaweb.google.com/OptimisticMetsFan111/SIYankeesAugust5th#5637607493981944594
  17. perhaps the 'hint of dejection' was because the Mets lost. One game (what's that now, 11-10 since the break) does not break the Braves' "franchise slump" (or is he referring to the drought from '06-'09 of not making the playoffs?) whine whine whine. Are we ever going to stop tracking every fly ball (while mostly ignoring how many deep fly balls guys like Izzy and Capuano have given up to the same parts) and complain it would've been a home run in Philly?
  18. seems like watching the Cyclones destroy the SI Yankees was the better choice tonight. whee..
  19. I have this odd habit of missing the alternate jersey games. Tonight i'll be at the Staten Island/Brooklyn Cyclones game in SI.

I've never smoked so much as a cigerette in my life actually. I'd love to go up against A-Rod in a poker game. Although I haven't played ina while and I'm locked out of playing at the sites I used to play at, thanks to the US government. But I'm going to Vegas in September, I probably should brush up if I want to win any money. Anyone have A-Rods number? The sites you are locked out of were breaking the law. I believe you also by using them. Could that be why you have no issue with Arod? No they weren't, and no I wasn't. Although the actual legality of some of this stuff is still very much a gray area involving internet commerce. But I was gambling in other countries, via a website. I was transferring money into accounts (the part that was illegal in the US) that aren't US accounts. but yes, my familiarity with poker has a lot to do with why I don't really care that A-Rod plays poker with some celebs in a mansion in the mountains of LA.
  21. #Bisons select Josh Satin as Player of the Week: http://ow.ly/5VlfW
  22. John Cougar Lunchbucket wrote: Let's confront some reality here: We have to win all three of these games. Well, it's not impossible that the Mets play, say 3 games, better than the Braves between Monday and 8/26 when they see them again, but yeah. they basically have to sweep them unless the Braves are going to basically 2007-Mets the rest of the season. That'd put them 4 losses, 5 games, back with 6 games in hand. If they merely win the series, they'd be 6/7 games back with 6 in hand which would be basically the outer limits of 'controlling their own destiny'.
  23. Frayed Knot wrote: Nothing in what Oakland was doing showed "indifference" though, more like bases left uncovered because they didn't think he'd go. But that's a lot different from deciding that you don't care if he goes because you'd rather plug the hole or because his run doesn't mean anything. I'd have given him a triple. The rule doesn't seem to differentiate intentional indifference though.
  24. (g) The official scorer shall not score a stolen base when a runner advances solely because of the defensive team's indifference to the runner?s advance. The official scorer shall score such a play as a fielder's choice. Rule 10.07(g) Comment: The scorer shall consider, in judging whether the defensive team has been indifferent to a runner?s advance, the totality of the circumstances, including the inning and score of the game, whether the defensive team had held the runner on base, whether the pitcher had made any pickoff attempts on that runner before the runner?s advance, whether the fielder ordinarily expected to cover the base to which the runner advanced made a move to cover such base, whether the defensive team had a legitimate strategic motive to not contest the runner?s advance or whether the defensive team might be trying impermissibly to deny the runner credit for a stolen base. For example, with runners on first and third bases, the official scorer should ordinarily credit a stolen base when the runner on first advances to second, if, in the scorer?s judgment, the defensive team had a legitimate strategic motive?namely, preventing the runner on third base from scoring on the throw to second base?not to contest the runner?s advance to second base. The official scorer may conclude that the defensive team is impermissibly trying to deny a runner credit for a stolen base if, for example, the defensive team fails to defend the advance of a runner approaching a league or career record or a league statistical title. so yeah, basically defensive indifference. I'd have to watch again, but I guess you could award SB if at some point the fielders made moves to get the ball or cover the bag (as the third baseman kinda did)
  25. You do typically find mob bosses at mansions in Beverly Hills, yes.
