The hat trick. interesting. I assume this trifeca will show up sooner or later now that the franchise itself is actually approaching age expectancy. the perfect story would be that the first Met to throw a no-hitter would be born on the day Nolan Ryan dies, but I hope we don't have to wait that long (for the no-hitter)
  2. Tonight. No idea where I'm sitting. Friend's a lawyer, got tickets from a client. (He's small fish, so it's probably prom club or something)

  4. I know Schwinny isn't a huge prospect or anything, and hasn't even been lights out in the second half in the minors, but it's his freaking major league debut, can we give (not accusing you guys necessarily, just the general vibe i'm seeing) the guy a break?
  5. Benjamin Grimm wrote: I'll probably be willing to write off 2012 well before Ceetar will be, but I'm not there yet. Let's first see what kind of offseason they have. I refuse to write off any team before May 1st.

Let them all battle to see who should be the closer next year and beyond. As for now, I'd give Acosta a few more shots to light a fire under Parnell's ass. Hold it there, this is NY , never admit to not being a contender the following year, we're New Yokers for fecks sake. Well, they're not going to come out and say it, but we all know it to be true. it's not true though.

  9. okay, let's go, keep the e# in double digits please.
  10. as long as they get my issue of Mets Magazine out on time.

  13. sharpie wrote: Actually, in Carlos Lee DH is one of the few positions they would be set with. Then they have to fill the position they would've played Lee in in the NL.
  14. metirish wrote: If I were an Astros fan I would be really pissed about my team going to the American League. As bad as they are now the Astros have a rich National League history, yeah they never won a WS but still, in my mind they are an NL team. Maybe I feel this way because of the shared history the Astros have with the Mets. I would just be pissed because they already suck and now there is another hole, DH, created that they need to fill.
  15. Mets are up to 7th best in the National League. top half! Also 16th best overall, so technically still have their first round pick protected next year, although it doesn't seem like any type A free agents are particularly desirable anyway.
  16. went back to look at my 2009 albums. Disappointed that I didn't have any real crowd shots to show what that place looked like when it was crowded and alive. This one's the RF outfield. and by the RF bullpen.
  17. sharpie wrote: The '86 Mets did go 17-1 vs. the 98-loss Pirates. shush.
  18. We hold a two-game lead with 23 to play. BEST EAST EVER Through 139 Games 1986 METS: 93-46 2011 Phils: 91-48 I was hoping it wouldn't come to this. *sigh* I don't care that I was 4 and a half. The 1986 Mets were better. They didn't have the soft Marlins to beat up on 18 times a year.
  19. I didn't hate the stadium. (but then, I didn't hate RFK either) I saw two games there, one fairly worthless regular season Marlins game, and one WBC game featuring the mercy rule. The second certainly suggested that there are baseball fans in Miami (or at least, fans willing to travel there?) because it was everything you'd expect from fans that love their team. It just so happened it wasn't MLB in this case.
  20. Dickey has never allowed an earned run here.
  21. NATIONAL LEAGUE BATTING RACE Through 9/7/2011 REYES .335 Braun .332
  22. Dickey - 5 Stinson - .5 Acosta - .5 Duda - 1.5 Reyes - 1

That might be tough because I believe that place sometimes changed names during the course of a series. not when the Mets were there, but yeah, it became Landshark for 2/3rd a season a couple of years ago or something. 2008 I think?
