  2. I really want to head out to Citi for this one, but I'm not feeling up to it. Torture myself to enjoy in person, or just relax at home? hmm.
  3. Benjamin Grimm wrote: If the Mets were figuring that d'Arnaud wouldn't (or might not) be ready in April, then they'd need a big league catcher. Who in their organization would have fit that bill? I think that's the main reason why Buck was included. Well Thole, but if they were going for a one-dimensional catcher I guess they figured Buck would help with the power element. What's interesting now is when d'Arnaud is recovered and playing again if he gets called up. I say no, that they're still consistent with wanting him to get some reps in the minors. And that's why the injury sucks for the Mets in June/July more than it's a big deal now. But if service time was the only thing keeping him down, he probably wasn't coming back before he was recovered from this injury anyway so all we're losing is him 'biding his time' in the minors.

  5. 3-2 now, Tejada RBI single past the old man at first.
  6. Zvon wrote: Keith just explains very politely why Duda may never be what we hope he could be. How could he not be ready for that fastball? He's got a different hitting philosophy than Keith, but I'll surely take his batting line so far this year all year long.

  8. Gee in the first game, haven't decided on Laffey or Hefner for the second. Mets will need a 6th starter now, barring another snowout.
  9. Edgy MD wrote: No game. Weather aligning to complement our three-deep rotation. Canceled? Justin Turner was just tweeting about how bad it looked, but didn't see anything official.

The "ticket contract" already states that the game time is subject to change. These teams should probably make most early April games during the day just for that reason. Don't the Rangers play most of their Sunday games at night for opposite reasons?
  12. I set the threshold at 50 AB.
  13. Edgy MD wrote: Mebbe, but 'Spin is the better offensive threat at this juncture, and Nieuey the better defender. It's not like the Mets were lookin' down the road at a likely attrition war. This is the American League where those almost never happen anyhow. You can be a little more liberal with your bench usage, and I imagine Terry knows that. I disagree. I think Nieuwenhuis is better all around. Hell, I think Baxter is better than both of them anyway, and I'd have rather him in CF.
  14. When did Reyes start sliding feet first though? Sometimes it's probably better to just do what comes naturally.

They scored 5 in the first and 4 in the second on July 14, 1995 (Mets 13, Rockies 4 at Shea) and on July 8, 2006 (Mets 17, Marlins 3, at Shea). They scored 6 in the first and 4 in the second on September 29, 2000. (Mets 11, Expos 2, also at Shea.) the 2006 was game 2 of a doubleheader. That must've been Pelfrey's debut right?
  16. gleaned from last night's broadcast: The Miami Marlins have scored 17 runs, and John Buck has driven in 19 (so has Chris Davis. Prince Fielder has driven in 17) Shin-Soo Choo has been hit by 5 pitches so far. He's on pace for 81. ouch.
  17. Centerfield wrote: I don't know why, but I have this feeling/hope that Jordany is going to be a pleasant surprise for us. Ike looks lost. Not just the 0 for 4, but looks terrible doing it. He's jumping, starting early. I'm starting to think that he will never be a legitimate #4 hitter. walked twice and drive one to the wall too.
  18. They did score at least 4 in the first two innings five times. 7/8/06 (game 2) 9/29/2000 7/14/1995 5/25/81 6/12/90

  20. I'm oddly..captivated by the weird grammar/language and the detachment of this site. http://www.metsseatingchart.com/#axzz2QHxCKDBM It came via this 'press release' http://www.sbwire.com/press-releases/good-seating-locations-help-people-enjoy-baseball-uniquely-235700.htm It's odd. It reads to me like a fluff high school essay topic or something. The capacity of Citi Field is 41,800 with more than 45,000 fans allowed into the field when standing room only seats are filled to maximum. Damn, I hate when I can't sit in my standing room only seats because they're filled to maximum.
  21. Zvon wrote: Didn't see every inning of this game. Post game show (Phils-during Charlies post game press chat) mentions something about a player doing a backflip. I think they were referring to a Phil, but not sure. Anyone know what this is all about? I noted Domonic Brown doing it in the first inning, but not sure if that's what we're referring to.
  22. Edgy MD wrote: Adams gets a goofy call for a strike there to Buck. feel like they've been calling that all night. Are we calling it the "Zobrist strike" yet?

  24. Zvon wrote: Zvon wrote: Non Harvey news: The Mets have hit a homer in every game (7) so far this season. The 1987 squad holds that record with 8. This is inaccurate, isn't it? I just copied it from the newspaper. We've played 8 games. well yeah, but remember newspapers are about reporting yesterday's news. We're up to 8 now. :-D
  25. Seems like I picked a good night to miss one.
