1. Isn't Dick Mountain the preferred nomenclature?
2. That's agelessly quite a few years older than his pitching coach.
3. need another starter for sure. I guess you can hope both deGrom and Carrasco show up very very soon again and have no more issues, but that doesn't seem like a real plan.
4. A Boy Named Seo wrote: you are a tough customer, Ceets agreed, but I'm not alone on this one. I see a lot of people making these comparisons. Racism and "i'm sorry you're upset we'll make it a little different" aside, Naming your team after the 'guardians of traffic', statues of assyrian kings on one bridge, but evokes all sorts of bland Robocop imagery is a touch sell. At best it's "good enough" which is corporate America's MO (And one of the reasons I always said the Wilpons were basically the same as everyone else in baseball).. REIMAGINE IT. damn, you have the potential to do so much, and the Spiders are sitting right there if you want to get historic and traditional with it. Cleveland Rocks maybe is a little too kitschy but who cares? Think of all the fun imagery you can do with the mash-up of music notes and baseballs/bats.

I mean, it's not my first choice, and having to explain to out-of-towners the whole idea of the Guardians of Transportation on the Lorain-Carnegie Bridge is going to get old fast, but what's so awful about it? I would have gone with Spiders. I don't think anyone really needed to worry about people associating it with the losing culture they had back in the 1890s.
7. Guardian sounds like Copganda nonsense, the font is basically the same and it feels blocky and like it's still invoking native american stuff, but maybe that last bit is just my association with the old name. I like the concept of wings on the ball but it's clunky and i'm not sure how it makes sense with the name or with Cleveland
8. swing and a miss, what a surprise.
9. Welcome to the only ongoing story of the Colorado Rockies since like February, where will Story go?
10. Be interesting to see what Stroman's spin rate is today. 11. risotto is great, though not a big seafood fan. I don't know why it has a rep for being hard, it just requires a little more attention than 'normal' rice.
12. I don't remember what I ate at Primanti when I went in 2006, forgettable. Cincinnati chili has cinnamon right? and chocolate. *googles* I wonder how it breaks down culturally. Do people used to Macedonian, or Macedonian adjacent cuisine like it more? or maybe less because it's a pale imitation? Or does it break down along Pumpkin Spice lines? Lots of similar flavorings there. I wonder if it's correlated...
13. probably on par. I tend to like chili on noodles, and chili on french fries for that matter, but I could definitely see how a chain could make that badly. It's like thinking sandwiches are bad because you've only had the play dough they sell at Subway.

15. Diaz Stroman Walker
16. I dunno about Gary Thorne, but the monitors didn't seem to bother Wayne any

19. I have a Wright black (too small) Wright and Santana 2008 with Shea patch whit epinstriped i think they were (also too small I won these in a NY lottery second chance thing) I've got a cream 2011ish home Pagan of some sort. It's fine. A blue Dickey that was super onsale the day after he was traded non Mets a yellow Hellmouth Sunbeams jersey a diPietro and a Tavares isles jersey a Manning Giants jersey a bunch of QBC jerseys I'm due for a new one but these things are just too expensive. Maybe if/when they win the WS I'll get a blue one with a Champs patch.
20. And even if Fred Wilpon was telling the truth about the green seats being an homage to the Polo Grounds, which he wasn't, that'd hardly be any kind of a consolation when the entire Citi Field exterior is an Ebbets Field knockoff. That's before you even take a single step into the Citi Field rotunda, which is also an Ebbets knockoff. Green is probably the default HOK seat color. they were just, as was typical (and so far not much as changed here) only motivated to do 'just enough' and didn't even consider seat colors. Like, I'm sure they would've gotten to a museum/HoF thing eventually, or eventually decorated the rest of the place. If they had done _some_ and were just like "It's a new stadium! It just opened! 2009 will be devoted to decorating and painting. growing pains, that probably would've been fine, but as usual they thought their half-assed 'just enough' would placate people. There was some document pre-2009 that was going to call Left Field landing Coogan's Bluff, or Coogan's Landing, or something like that. THAT would've been a nice little tribute. And they didn't even change the name to a sponsor (Thomas Tew these days btw) for a few years if I recall, it was just "Left Field Landing" bland. Likely someone interesting mocked up the Coogan's Bluff name, and the Wilpons never saw it, so when it came time to name the sections they're just were like 'sprinkle in some BIG words like excelsior, Empire, metropolitan, and promenade, 'field gold' and Sterling" and never even saw the original mockup. Just like the RF outfield seats were 'just enough' overhang to invoke ..Detroit was it? Which was fine, but It should've been a little higher, and a little closer. That's the whole point. Outfield seats that are close. And then they brought the fences in a bit and now it's like one row over and all it does is make it hard for anyone in the backrows of the otherwise great seats underneath not be able to see fly balls. The pole corners of this stadium are really clunky. But I digress. Black Uniforms. Maybe i'll get a black shirt if they start selling those again too.
21. ESPN reporting that Aaron Judge is under "COVID protocol." Later sue them
22. stop tone shaming me because I got snippy because I bothered to look something up to cite it and got ignored. There are no rules of engagement, I"ll use whatever damn tone I like. The Mets could fucking have the Goodyear blimp hover over Citi Field with the names of the unvaccinated players, and hell, the rest of the Tier 1 staff, on rotation if they wanted to.
23. so is responding to facts with _no, that's definitely wrong_ But go ahead, call me condescending for posting facts and getting bristly when they're ignored instead of just bowing out and admitting you were wrong.
24. I mean, should I believe you, or the hhs.gov website? geeze.
25. If a player wants to get the vaccine on their own and not tell the team, they're welcome to do that, and the team can't demand the medical record, but they CAN demand proof of vaccination so a bit of a catch 22 there. If you get the vaccine offered to you by your boss, that's not privileged information. Likely the CBA or the employment contract grants the team certain rights when it's THEIR doctor treating you. But if you tell your boss "yeah, I'm vaxxed" they can tweet that freely and legally. They can certainly tell the media that. They're certainly allowed access to the people that sign up for a vaccine program they set up on their property during their working hours.
