The camera followed him after the third out and we heard him say "fuck!" LOUD AND CLEAR in a closeup. I hope the kiddies weren't home from school yet. Indeed. Imagine how many children would ask in horror, "Mommy, what's that goddamn Kyle Farnsworth still doing on the Mets?" "Fuck if I know, dear." We're all going to be asking this in about 5 years aren't we?

The price of a Shack Burger is only like $1 more inside Citi Field last time I checked.

  13. boom, Mets pay the $100,000 bonus to Dice-K which allows them to send him to the minors if they want to. Technically just defers the decision, but it's probably silly to spend the money to see one more practice game.
  14. John Cougar Lunchbucket wrote: Trade will still happen! Just wait! Drew signing will still happen! no?
  15. TheOldMole wrote: The rap on Flores isn't that he's prone to making a lot of stupid plays, it's that he doesn't have the range for shortstop. So what does that mean? That he fails to get to one hit per game that a shortstop with greater range would get to? That's a lot. That he fails to get to one hit every three games that a shortstop with greater range would get to? That's a trade-off you might make for a guy who hits forty points higher than the guy with range. Well, if he's Duda bad at a more valuable position.. Duda was 18% better than average with the bat and had ALL of that value erased via defense. you don't typically look for 18% better than average at SS, but it's also be unreasonable to expect that of a rookie. But if Tejada was playing LF, would you advocate they play Duda there instead? Because that's a fair parallel to the worry about Flores at short.
  16. Rays over Pirates. 6 games. Yankees finish tied for 3rd/4th with a losing record and the Orioles only one game behind.

  18. Lefty Specialist wrote: Wasn't he already on the major league for half a season, though? Doesn't that mean that his service time clock has already started? Holding him back for a month or two while Dice-K does a Kamikaze run shouldn't really matter then. Unless I misunderstand completely, which is entirely possible. I haven't crunched the numbers but people I trust have mentioned the Super-2 status being likely if he starts with the big club. He was actively demoted after that so that stopped his service time clock so I don't think a lot of this DL time attributed.
  19. Lefty Specialist wrote: I's not like they need to hold Mejia back for Super-Two reasons, since Jerry and Omar took care of that problem years ago. Let him pitch; he'll be better than Dice-K and, well, he'll be better than Dice-K. Actually there are very much Super-Two reasons involved, I'm not just not sure they should matter for a guy with his injury history and perceived value over Dice-K.

  24. Jenrry all the way. He's almost definitely the better pitcher already with more upside. I'm not worried about losing Dice-K if they decide not to go with him. big whoop. We got him for nothing last year, we can get a similar pitcher for nothing later this year if we need.
