I've gotten blowback on both Thursday and Tuesday and I'm not particularly hopeful blowing it all up and trying to find a new convenient date. We could try to find a sitter maybe? Of course, we still need these last two teams to confirm. Vic?
  2. batmagadanleadoff wrote: Here's Goeddel's write-up from Baseball Prospectus' 2016 Annual, published just before the start of the 2016 season: Finally, the Mets' doctors have an excuse. Goeddel has had so many arm injuries that, when the team was predictably vague in diagnosing his latest malady in mid-June, he admitted that there was so much scar tissue in his elbow that the doctors literally could not see what was wrong with it. Before then, though, Goeddel had seemed ticketed for high-leverage work, and was solid after returning in September as well. He makes for a different look as a reliever, featuring a splitter and sharp 12-to-6 curve that keep his splits relatively even. So why was he left off the NLCS and World Series rosters after one bad postseason outing, while certain others [Clippard?] received chance after chance? You'd have to ask Terry Collins. Or, you know what, don't even bother. who's writing these?

  4. Will Terry have the guts to leave his best reliever at closer? probably not. I think Reed isn't as amazing as last year but still very good. Basically gives up another walk or two and an extra homer or two. 79 IP. 10.45 K/9, 1.77 BB/9, 2.3 ERA, 2.5 fWAR. I'll say 6 saves.
  5. I wrote a whole post advocating for Lagares as the 'regular' Centerfielder. His numbers last year, though in a smallish 160PA sample, were encouraging. More BB, less K, more power. (though the league as a whole improved this way too) 6.1 BB%, 17.5 K%, .141 ISO. .262/.331/.411 for a 95 wRC+ over 380 PA that gets him a 3.8 fWAR. Especially if Duda is healthy and Wright is not, I think he finds himself in most/every game a lefty starts. He'll do a stint on the DL but it'll be minor and he'll be right back.
  6. metsmarathon wrote: so what's happening here? is vic taking over initech, or GGLDM? i'm so confused! and when is our draft anyways? --- also worth noting is that when you cut a player, you are responsible for 50% of his salary until someone else picks him up, or until the end of the season. so if you are taking over the deathship, and you were to, for whatever reason, cut $63 Mike Trout, you'd still be on the hook for $32 until he joined another team. GGLDM is supposed to be renewing but hasn't gotten to me. Vic is hopefully taking over initech our draft is 70% Wednesday, 30% chance of Thursday.
  7. Gets 101 AB but mostly doesn't play and spends a lot of time in Vegas. .210/.260/.340 wRC+ of 68 Is not on the postseason roster.

Although it's not like anyone else on this squad is busting the OBP-a-thon meter either. It would be fine with me if he didn't lead off, but there's also no other obvious answer. yeah, and Reyes is better than Granderson. I'd probably put Asdrubal up there. I mean, I'd put Wright there too, but it's not a Reyes question then. Ultimately the Mets lineup is pretty deep and you're gonna end up with someone hitting 7th who probably typically shouldn't.
  9. Vic Sage wrote: all i've ever played is the free Yahoo fantasy leagues, so i have no idea what i'm supposed to do. I've never actually participated in an auction-style draft. Do i pay actual money? how much? when? to whom? what are the rules of the draft and the league? When? Where? Who? How? and sometimes why? It's hard for me to tell as I already have an account. You need a fangraphs account, and then a $10 Ottoneu league purchase. https://ottoneu.fangraphs.com Technically the spot isn't "open" yet so I'm not entirely sure how it works to sign up without a league ,or if you just pick a league and I pull you in. I can probably abandon the team but I can't "reserve" it I don't think. (maybe create a fangraphs account and let me know what it is first and we'll see if that works?) Auction draft is pretty simple. Basically you've got a $400 salary cap and 40 players. at 9pm on either teh 22nd or the 23rd we take turns nominating a player from the pool and it's open season on people clicking +$1 or putting in a price. after 10 seconds of no activity, high bid gets the player. It's a keeper league so if you super overpay for a player you're going to end up cutting him next season probably, and you want to reserve money/spots for in-season chinese/blind auctions. Scoring categories are (OBP, SLG, HR, R and ERA, WHIP, HR/9, K) You get 12 points for leading one of the categories, 11 points for being second, etc. 12 person rotisserie style league.
  10. Wheeler had good velocity i'm told.
  11. big question for Reyes is probably how many games. That's the interesting number. I'd prefer he not lead off because of his OBP but he checks too many of the boxes for Terry to not do it. I'm going to go all weird on this one, and use his small sample size from last year (more walks, more Ks, more ISO) to assert with absolute confidence that he's trying to remake himself as a little more of a power guy and less a speedster. 350 PA. 15 HR, 60 Runs. .256/.320/.460. 2.8 fWAR. 60 games at third, 20 at short, 10 at second, 2 in CF.
  12. batmagadanleadoff wrote: Ceetar wrote: That's a sloppy BP write-up. Hits dog-whistle LolMets stuff. You're just annoyed that I snuck in a plug for Dan Warthen. Nah i'm okay with that though I'd like to see the data on it and feel like Warthen gets plenty of credit and it's VIOLA that needs to get a little more. It's the hahaha look they let him pitch injured even though it did no more damage and when it was too much they shut him down and he's fine now like every other team.
  13. Edgy MD wrote: Harvey's workday ends with four runs (two earned) in three and a third. Flaming hot Tim Tebow just singled to center. Maybe he's going to be like Pete Rose—a single's hitter with a slugger's build. helps to face garbage 30 year old journeymen in meaningless games, surely.
  14. Centerfield wrote: Anyone watching? How does Harv look? heard someone say 93-94 in the first 90-92 in the second.
  15. That's a sloppy BP write-up. Hits dog-whistle LolMets stuff. But yeah, Matz has had trouble staying healthy, and I don't have faith that he will. BUT he improved in 2016 over 2015 (though was much luckier in 2015) and if he can stay out there, good times ahead. 150IP, 8.88 K/9, 2.02 BB/9. 3.11 ERA, 3.9 fWAR. I think he'll have a great April and May before fading a little into a DL stint and when he comes back he'll still be pretty good. Will be the Mets best pitcher in the playoffs, edging Thor ever so slightly.
  16. The velocity is concerning, though perhaps not that concerning given he's coming back from surgery, but at least it's still 90+ and all. He won't contend for the Cy Young this year, but I think he'll be good, and I think April will be his worst month. 170 IP (and some Boras griping about innings post-surgery again because Boras) 9.1 K/9, 1.8 BB/9. 3.4 ERA overall, but it's 2.93 after April. 3.2 fWAR 3 skipped starts in deference to inning limit bs. All sorts of silly off the field stuff that the media loves. Dates a redhead.
  17. He's already better than Rene Rivera imo, and will get the chance to prove it and get some time based on injuries and just general catcher rest stuff. .261/.320/.401 over 311 PA. 9 HR. Catches a no-hitter.
  18. I read this one, and enjoyed it. I don't think I saw the film but I can't remember now.
  19. Edgy MD wrote: We have a Tim Tebow hit in captivity. Speaking of minor league call-overs filling out roster space.. John Mora laces a single and is now 2/5.
  20. seawolf17 wrote: As long as we start no earlier than 9, I can do just about any night that week. I generally spend 8-9 playing Hearthstone under a blanket in my daughter's room on my phone, so no worries.
  21. Yeah.
  22. John Cougar Lunchbucket wrote: Vic Sage wrote: Any way i can buy into the league this year? Sorry, Vic Sage... I missed him asking. or blanked it out. Don't mind me, I've barely eaten or slept in a week. Initech is the team that's being taken over. Work cut out for you, but at least the roster's trim. https://ottoneu.fangraphs.com/209/team?team=1713
  23. TransMonk wrote: It looks like LWFS's team has been re-assigned...I'm guessing to an interloper. GULP! he said he'd renew and I'll manually add him back to the team when he does. I booted the interloper, well, one, is there another? doesn't matter. I'll boot him too. John Cougar Lunchbucket wrote: I sent the bat-signal to Radd, he wanted in Drawing a blank on who Radd is, but sign up and gimme user name!
  24. There's an opening! Take over an Ottoneu team. Join us! have fun! check in to the Ottoneu 2017 thread in the fantasy forum if you're interested.
  25. John Cougar Lunchbucket wrote: Thanks for looking into this for me. I can do almost any evening but the 22nd. PS, LWFS's team was not renewed, Ottonue tells me I sent him and the other guy direct emails in regards to that. If I dont' hear from either of them by the time I get to work tomorrow and settle in, gonna put out feelers for replacements. There's an Ottoneu slack group too, might poke my head in and see if there are people around that might want to do a 'practice' auction as a stand-in in case we can't get everyone. I figure there must be people out there with time that don't mind seeing what players go for in prep for their own auctions?
