  1. the concern is not with Wheeler but they already have to make another move. I always worry about the last guy to pitch when stuff like this breaks. Hope it's not Thor.
  2. Centerfield wrote: Who had that ten game win streak back in 2015? it was 11, and I think it was me.
  3. A Boy Named Seo wrote: That is act 1 of ceetar's wet dream to have David Wright morph into the AI for the first self-driving car. instead of a windshield it'll just be a tv screen that shows Wright highlights.
  4. gets experimental bionic implants. no one knows what to do. comes back July 1st and hits 45 home runs. Donates entire years income to making the bionic implants a viable cure for spinal stenosis. 7 HR in the World Series, front and center of the World Series parade. Does a lot of press during the offseason. His new nickname is Cyborg. Something seems off in his demeanor in his offseason press tour though, but we just chalk it up to all he's gone through. He's still mashing in April 2019, but he's developed a temper. May 3rd he literally steps in front of Amed Rosario to make a play. Rosario has words, and it almost comes to blows. Things calm down for a while after that, Wright is apologetic and seemingly back to normal until May 22nd. On May 22nd, a schedule off day, Cespedes is scheduled to bat in the bottom of the 9th of a game the Mets are trailing 3-2. Cespedes is in a 3 for 29 slump but we're hoping this will break him out of it. Conforto walks and Cespedes puts his bat down when David leaps out of the dugout and tells Cespedes he's being pinch hit for. Cespedes, livid, goes to yell at Mickey who had no idea, while David takes the at-bat. David homers to walk it off but instead of a pileup at home Cespedes is halfway up the third base line screaming at him. Gelbs tries to get Wright to do the usual post-game interview on the field but Wright shoves him aside and goes into the clubhouse. His postgame comments amount to "Yoenis was going to strike out. I won the game, what more do you want?" David and Cespedes are not in the lineup the next day and the press is locked out from the clubhouse. No one will comment. The next day it's announced that both players are on the DL. Cespedes with facial contusions, Wright with an unspecified illness. It's the last we ever see of David in a Mets uniform.
  5. what about that statement 2007 series where they came out of the gate and swept the Cardinals? NLCS was a fluke! We're awesome! Suck it! very flowery prose about David Wright and Willie Randolph standing in the dugout really taking in the ring ceremony.
  6. Lefty Specialist wrote: Well, they missed Scherzer and Murphy was hurt, so we probably shouldn't get ahead of ourselves just yet. I didn't like the look of Harvey; he's still inconsistent. And jeez, just intentionally walk Harper in all situations, please. they missed Thor so even-steven there. it's not out fault they were too cheap to sign backups for Murphy/depth. That sorta thing might very well be why the Mets end up with the division title.
  7. so, is this up or down? I guess, technically, Marlins are an increase of competition over AAA, but on the other hand, Marlins Park's pitching environment is much friendlier than the PCL.
  8. So the Yankees Many salivated over the home run totals. Preaching Maris and Mantle, shattering records. The team record seemed almost a given. (they're well short to date) They play in a tiny park. One home run wins an extra inning game at home. the Orioles are not good. The ball is juiced. It's a historic home run era. It's almost impossible to lose two extra inning games like that right? With 10 last-licks?
  9. Frayed Knot wrote: Sunday won't be much warmer, but at least the sun will be out. Oh wait, no it won't ... it's an April night game?!!?! They already did Dodgers Giants last weekend. Yankees and Red Sox play in-division but not each other so they want to save it I guess. Cubs Brewers? meh I guess.
  10. I mean Lugo is (maybe?) going to start (Monday?). Seems like Vargas isn't quite ready last I looked.
  11. I'm skeptical about Reyes playing time, but I wouldn't have even signed him. But game 6. I need a larger sample of how he's actually going to use guys once things really get going. It's like a few years ago when everyone complained Conforto wasn't getting enough time and he finished the month near tops in PA anyway. I mean, I'm sure I'll have gripes. I'm sure he'll use Bruce and Reyes too much and Nimmo not enough.
  12. 2 categories left. walk off RBI and complete game. It could be a while. It could be all season. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1YielPWgFwlR_0LnMC6wEHoNa9_O5Sj4xyRsPQHApLnA/edit#gid=0
  13. some flashes. some improvement in walk rate. great defense. some fun moments. Is the one to take Cabrera's helmet post-home run. 144 games. 9 HR. 6.6 BB%, 29 K% .280/.310/.409 9 hits in the NLCS.
  14. yes I do. he's basically a kardashian with less tolerant views. And at least Kim doesn't doesn't inject herself into my brand of entertainment.
  15. MFS62 wrote: He's off to a good start. https://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/mlb/2018/04/05/tim-tebow-makes-double-a-debut-with-binghamton-rumble-ponies/33587551/ Later He piled on against a non-prospect (kinship!) pitcher that's bad. Then made three outs. It's not really worth looking at his stats anyway. He's not really a prospect, he's a brand promoter. Looks like the Mets will be good this year, so hopefully there will be no major league free time to do silly stuff like this.
  16. Mets capitalized on the Braves window closing in 2006 and should've had a nice run out of it. Perhaps they can slam the Nats window shut and run away with this thing. but I get ahead of myself.
  17. big bomb, pitch down and out of the zone. Strasburg has given up a home run on literally 1/4th of flyballs.
  18. Mets fans with mlb.tv in the Washington area, sorry, you can't watch. Why can't these games be streaming for all somewhere?
  19. Arrested by June. Doesn't serve any time.
  20. Ceetar wrote: Almost done. HahnSolo and Seawolf tied at 9. 4 categories left. Frayed Knot joins them with the Rosario Triple. 3 categories left. (I hope someone's paying attention to the covers)
  21. cool, umps, just be blind. that should be reviewable. no no, Statcast should automatically call him out, because data doesn't require a judgement call.
  22. sharpie wrote: So, I'm not on Facebook for a variety of reasons plus I can't duck out for a late lunch to watch this at a local restaurant. Glad this is only one game this year and I hope the experiment dies a sad death. well you could, if local restaurants weren't likely to be incompetent. They should probably get with it though, this isn't just some lark that Facebook is embarking on ,and it's not going to be limited to MLB. It might not be limited to games most people don't watch on tv anyway because work even.
  23. d'Kong76 wrote: I'll listen on the radio; I don't want to add one more click to any stat counter that could lead this becoming more of a thing than it already shouldn't be. I'll probably do the opposite. hard to actually watch at work but I'm all-in on the cord cutting idea.
  24. LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr wrote: You guys don't do the MLB At-Bat radio thing? It's the only way to fly. Yeah, though thanks to the NBC Sports app I do it less cause I can stream SNY now around the house. But I'll frequently use the app for the radio at work or in the car.
