    What a fun game. I missed most of the fireworks because I was putting my kiddo to bed. But how fun is it to wallop the Braves, and gain a bigger lead in first place, all while the Mets literally have enough players on the IL to field an entire injured team?

    One of the downsides of modern technology is that in the old days if you kept score you could be the most popular person in your row. "What did this guy do last time he was up?" Nowadays a lot of that information is put on the message boards in the park or can be accessed through an app.

    Obviously the only answer is a fleet of drones hovering over the field at all times with cameras, radar, heat-sensing technology, and the aforementioned electron microscopes to observe and analyze base contact with scientific precision. WE HAVE THE TECHNOLOGY! Also, all records back to 1876 should be erased because those fuckers were cheating left and right and the numbers they put up can't be trusted. It's a real disgrace that MLB has allowed this to go on for so long.

    I stopped keeping score when I started going to games with my kids, but maybe I'll start again now that they're older. Knowing how to keep score is also a useful skill at youth baseball. I'm the dad who has been roped in to score the game on numerous occassions.

    We should put sensors in the uniform and in the base so that we can be 100% sure.

    In fact, MLB should invest in electron microscope to review such plays. If the atoms of the player don't interact with the atoms of the base, can they really be said to be "touching."

    Of course it might also tear off skin or break ribs, but it's really important that the baserunner be firmly touching the base at all times.

    I don't know how people enjoyed major league baseball for 125 years with all the uncertainty over whether or not a baserunner's body may have come a incremental distance off the bag for a fraction of a second.
