  4. This movie was playing on an airplane but I wasn't listening and every time I looked up some kind of weird visual effect was happening. Actually, it looked weird enough that I might have liked it.
  5. Do they fight ham or do they fight on behalf of ham?
  6. All Japanese baseball teams play in Nippon.
  7. New scouting report on my little guy (Hochmeister is a contributing writer).
  8. Since we're posting Bobby V photos, here he is with another Stamford boy at Camden Yards in 1997. (damn I needed a shave)
  9. Our Band Could be your Life is on my reading list. I look forward to your review.I'm currently reading:I'm a fan of Toni Morrison, took a couple of classes that included her work in college. My big coup was when I had an interpretation of Jazz contrary to my professor's view, but then I found a direct quote from Morrison that backed-up my interpretation (the next best thing to having Marshall McLuhan help settle an argument for you while in line for a movie). Anyhow, Love is Morrison's most recent novel (albeit, three years old) and is more accessible than some of her other works. Despite that, I felt like an idiot trying to figure out the relationship among the characters. All is revelaed on page 131 and it is jaw-dropping -- a total mindfuck.
  10. Some of us are librarians too.
  11. Why do you care what people think about you? A boy's night out for a cowboy film would be fine if I knew someone who wanted to see it. Of course, I live in a place where I won't get beat up for people thinking I'm gay.
  12. That's more like news that news is coming.
  13. Crane Pool Rankings do not lie.
  14. I was going by the Crane Pool rankings wherever possible and Buddy ranks over Elster. Sorry.
  15. I always wondered why it was "Strat-O-Matic" not "Stat-O-Matic". Now, I know.
  16. Not being thread police, but as a public service here's a link to an earlier conversation about Strat-0-Matic from last month.

  18. Ugh, five pages that should be in the Rico Brogna thread.
  19. Anyone adopted him yet?
  20. I just looked up Billy Wynne for old-time's sake. Looks like YSG found a picture for him at last.
  21. Billy Wynne, unusually popular Met. Hee, hee!
  22. ] "If you need a pep pill because you're living large, maybe you'll cut that back," Bouton said. "Maybe guys will drink less and go to bed earlier. Mix in a salad." This isn't going to fly with the fans/writers who mourn the loss of "larger than life characters." Can you imagine: "Slugger McBride won the annual salad-eating contest on Coney Island consuming 14 bowls of the healthy mix of vegetables in 5 minutes, all washed down with three liters of V8 juice."
  23. Which Met is not participating in the revolution?
