They're singing "Meet the Mets" (1963 version) in the clubhouse. I love that. I wouldn't even expect many of the players to know the words the way we fans do.
This was fun to watch. Doubly fun watching with a Michigander (or is Michigoose the correct term?). I loved how the players sprayed champagne on the fans, I've never seen that before. I'm also proud to be the world's suckiest prognosticator and extend the reverse karma jinx on the Yankees to a 6th year.
From Dodger Blues: ]What's the only thing more embarrassing than having two runners tagged out at the plate seconds apart? Allowing someone's friggin' grandfather to beat out a double-play ball.
On the other hand - and I think this was Cooby's point - one of these teams will be the Mets opponent in the NLCS if the Mets advance which is why we specifically should have more interest in this series. As I said before, I'm rooting for the Padres to win the next two games and for all three remaining games to be at least 18 innings in length. A good and tired opponent for the NLCS would be welcome.
Looks like a sweep is in the works. Lets hope the Mets add another sweep tomorrow. For the Cardinals-Padres of course I want nothing less than three consecutive 18-inning games.
I'd love to see A-Rod go 4 for 4 tomorrow while the rest of his teammates are hitless. It would be especially delicious if Rodriguez got himself to 3d base with no outs and the Yankees fail to score.
