  2. Benjamin Grimm wrote: I seem to recall the Cincinnati guys not being too bad. I recall the Cincinnati crew spending an entire game talking about high school football.
  3. MFS62 wrote: The link is blocked by the security software on the PC I'm using. Where do they place the ESPN crew? Later They only cover the 5 best and 5 worst crews and all are local broadcast teams.
  4. MFS62 wrote: I hope that when the game starts tonight, the National Leaguers realize that they are playing for the Mets to get home field advantage in the World Series. Later Why? Then they would play to lose.
  5. I don't have many charitable things to say about Steinbrenner's life, may he rest in peace. I expect the ASG will be a glurgefest and the Yankees will be expected to win a World Series "for the Boss" now.
  6. When Vin Scully dies I want them to just play his recorded voice over games. It'll be challenging but I'm sure they can program a computer that can find Scully moments that fit the action on the field at the time.
  7. I thought it had started in the mid-90's. Maybe it didn't get TV coverage until then?

  9. The company was great, the seats were great (nice view of Ike's homer to the apple), the sun was HOT, and the game was very satisfying. It was good to see the Mets in person and spend a day in the City. I was amused by a boy in Jeter shirt sitting all alone as if no one would sit near him. My 2010 winning percentage is now 1.000 and will probably stay there for this season.
  10. I found his name humorous. Not in a double-entendre way, just the first and last name sound whimsical together.
  11. The Mets tend to lose when I attend games so I hope your mojo outweighs my mojo.
  12. I'm surprised there's no IGT already since they seem to be started at least two days in advance these days. At any rate I'm jumping in to start my first of the season and change the mojo for the Mets. Old & busted Tim Hudson starts for the Braves while new, future Cy Young winner Mike Pelfrey starts for the Mets. Expect some ass-kicking by the Mets offense and a complete silencing of the Braves bats. I'm ready!
  13. Jose Reyes last started a game in the second position in the batting order on June 22, 2005 at Philadelphia. (via Twitter)
  14. It's also rather fetishistic.
  15. bmfc1 wrote: Sunday, 10 fans will win an autographed Bay bobblehead, and 25 fans will get player-worn jerseys from the game. We believe in #Mets fans! If I'm one of the winners do I have to swap my shirt with the Mets player who is giving me the jersey off his back? Where's the "Let's Get Naked" image when you need it?
  16. I still think that a barrage of warm, loving boos would be most appreciated by Larry.
  17. Looking forward to my first (and probably only) appearance at Citi Field this season on Sunday. Going to meet with Seawolf to watch the game. If anyone else will be attending that day I'd be happy to see you all as well. I hope this is the game that launches the Mets into a first place tie.
  18. Ceetar wrote: I've always thought Rivera basically fits the profile of a steroid user in the 90s. Failed starter, surgery, fringe guy just trying to make it. ...plays for the New York Yankees.
  19. Edgy DC wrote: I first (and second) read that headline as "Julius Erving Rips Beaver." That was Wilt Chamberlain.
  20. The Hasselhoff Recursion has been floating around the internets for many years.
  21. I suppose we're rooting for the Braves to lose so the Mets can gain a game in the standings, but rooting for the Phillies just makes me feel ... dirty.
  22. Posting Baywatch photos is a double-edged sword:
  23. Keep cool. Should be a hot one like the first metsonline.net picnic.
