    The extreme shift against McNeil is crazy. Plus it allows Escobar to get a massive walking lead at third base. McNeil draws a walk to load the bases for J.D. Davis with a chance to blow this game completely open.

    That shift was so extreme they were practically giving a single on a ball to the left side. Then J.D. with a more traditional hit throught the left side. Then McCann crushes one and just like that the Mets are piling on.

Not that I can recall. Marte had a hard line drive single (I believe 109 mph off the bat), but that is about it for the night.

    I don't understand why anyone throws J.D. anything other than a steady diet of fastballs up in the zone. He just seems clueless and over matched by fastballs up in the zone. McCann just looks clueless and overmatched by virtually all pitches.

    The Mets just can't seem to get out their own way against the Reds young lefty. Meanwhile, Mad Max is like he never left. Give that man some support people.

    First 4 batters against Smith each hit a rocket. Fortunately, 2 of them were right at fielders. Strikes out the 5th batter and luckily escapes giving up only one run.

    McNeil robbed on a line drive nabbed by Reynolds. Escobar comes through and drives in Lindor for some insurance.

    McCann flailing away on a steady diet of breaking balls away. He wasn't close to making contact on either of them, but at least watched to one lone fast ball (also away) that he saw.

    I never have much faith in a Mets victory when they have to start Trevor Williams. He is essentially the 8th option and has proven to be pretty ineffective in the role he has had thrust upon him. Scherzer, Bassitt, DeGrom (oh to dream), and Megill can not get back soon enough.
